I think the Could look to move Matthews in certain scenarios. If we sign Barnes which I think would be a good move because it's a high risk high reward type of situation as the worst that happens he's a Parsons who plays more games each season.
If we can Move Matthews to get a legit PG and fill one other position Ai think they would look at it.

He goal is to get young and if we can have JA, HB, and Powell. It's a good start.
Utah might look to move Burk? A young PG that we can evaluate this year and decide in the future.
I think as much shit as Mavs are getting there will be options this year and next.

@MarcJSpearsESPN: Ian Mahini gets four-year, $64 million fully guaranteed deal with Wizards, source said.

Gotta talk to Deron now. Maybe look into Nene starting at center.

I'm fine with the 2nd rounder and the current white stiff getting the majority of the minutes at center. If need be, you can pick someone up for a cup of coffee later.

How confident is golden state about signing him to 95M? Would it make them hesitant to match now that Curry is free next season. Could it hurt their cap situation which can help the Mavs snatch him?

Durant take your time. Enjoy the vacation and decide on July 7th. Since the clippers are involved too. I'd say that to him.

If Durant chooses the Warriors we can anyway straight skip to the finals for several years.
No one is beating a healthy team of Curry-Thompson-Durant-Green-whoever with Iggy as 6th man

The only contracts that they have on the books next year are Thompson, Green and Rookie deals. Even if you add in 22m for Barnes they would have 40m or so in cap space. So no it wouldn't hinder their Curry plans.

But then what if we offer Ezeli a max offer since their sketchy about Bogut? Yeah he's restricted too. But if we offer both Barnes and Ezeli max offer sheets. Maybe that can gain some leverage while they wait for Durant.

Warriors are not breaking up their team because they think Barnes would be 5-10m overpaid in each season. They suck it up and pay it

You could really put some heat on GSW by offering the same contract to Ezeli. Of course, you would have to pay him if they didn't match, but it might be fun anyway. I'm betting you'd get at least one of them.

Max for an 11 & 4 guy who froze in the finals. I'd just as soon have kept Parsons if we're throwing that kind of money for a 3 with those numbers. And unlikely Barnes is even getting here.

With starting Deron and a bench scorer like Wade. This could look interesting. Plus it wont be just Ezeli when we have Mejri, Hammons, and McGee stashed.

Yeah, which has me content if we end up with top 20 pick next season. Or can make it into the playoffs depending on who starts at center. I'm more confident about his contract than trying to bring Parsons back. Even if we don't end up with Barnes.

Relax. Look noone thinks Barnes is going to help us get 45 wins next year. There is noone else who is going to take our cap space in the meantime. It forces a Western Conference team to make a decision on a player that is questionable for that kind of dollar on a stacked team with loads of talent. They have to choose between financial flexibility in the future or is Barnes it? Curry is going to be next in line then they are strapped for the next 5-6 years if they choose to match. We got nothing better to spend the money on in the next 2-3 years. He's 24.

I like Ezeli but not for a lot of money... Ppl here are tired of Parsons knee keeping him out of 10 playoff games and 35 games or so in regular season over the last 2 years? Ezeli missed an entire season in '13 with knee surgery and then followed that up by missing 70 games the last 2 years with another knee surgery in there. There isn't much out there but no to any big money for that risk.

I was in the camp that was happy to see Parsons go, but I'm even less of a fan of Harrison Barnes. He probably got the best looks in the NBA considering his teammates and he was straight garbage. I hope we don't end up with him. I'd rather start Anderson.

We could easily start..
Deron
Wes
Barnes
Dirk
Ezeli
If Durant drags it out. Or if golden state has different plans with Barnes and Ezeli.

But Golden State is going to match any offer for Barnes if they don't land Durant, so we're probably not getting him. Doesn't matter how anyone feels about him if he's not attainable.

He looked horrible in the finals, but it might have been partly due to him coming back from an injury. Also, GSW doesn't really focus on their bigs and the guy is only 26 yrs old. Maybe you roll with Mejri, McGee, and Powell or maybe you take a chance on an athletic young center who has never really had a shot at consistent playing time due to the style of play. Maybe you offer him 4 yrs and $72M or perhaps even $60M given you have a max offer on Barnes. I doubt GSW matches both. It seems to me this was a big year for FA centers and right now the Mavs have nothing. Oh, I forgot they have added A.J. Hammons.
Edit: I knew of his injury this year, but was not aware of his injury during the '13-14 and '14-15 seasons. That does make for a different story.

I believe Barnes shot 16% from 3 the last 3 games of the Finals.

I don't disagree. Again, it's a win win for Dallas. We get him? Great. We lose out on him? Fine, GS had to pony up at least and commit any financial flexibility they had hoped to keep going forward.

But I don't see Harrison Barnes at $96m as a great thing though... I'd honestly rather have Parsons at that price.
And we gain pretty much nothing by making GS commit money to him -- the cap is going up again next year and they can always make a trade to gain their flexibility back.

Well to each their own. I like Barnes at max more than Parsons. Mostly due to age and injuries. Barnes is more attractive going forward to me. There is nothing to lose by offering him.
In regards to GS, I just don't see how its NOT a good thing to force them to pay max dollars for Barnes. Could they trade their way out of it? Sure, most likely.

So Im on twitter and I follow BBALLBREAKDOWN and he posts about how all the movies that were released were badly reviewed this weekend. Guess who responds....
Mark Cuban
go see Tickle. You will thank me.
Sorry Tickled. Its incredible. Guarantee you will love it.
So you know he's on twitter reading what all the basketball heads are writing.
Side note: He's right. Tickled is a crazyyyy documentary. Worth seeing if its in your area.

See that's the thing. I don't see him being a trade asset. Though Wes has a lot to prove. Barnes would be here to stay long term like we had planned for Parsons. But he got too brittle. Now the pressure is on golden state.

Then you see that twitter has a tweet saying #FreeKD. Hint he's considering golden state?
