Terence Newman did not practice Friday because of a groin injury suffered in Thursday's practice, but owner and general manager Jerry Jones said it did not involve the surgery Newman had last month that knocked him out for six games.
But Jones was not sure Newman would be able to play Sunday against San Francisco. Newman did not comment Friday.
"He's working through that and we didn't want him to push off on it," Jones said.
Newman shut down Santana Moss last week in Washington and his absence would hurt a defense that was gaining confidence in his return.
"I think when he's in there and can play well, like he did the other day as opposed to when he's limited, then it's a big impact," Jones said.
