I think 20-30 a game off the bench would put him in the Sixth Man conversation. Or I just love himtoo much.

Roddy's range is what impresses me. His jump shoot looks so pure and effortless.
I hope the reason Roddy didn't play in the crunch was because he was hurting from the fall he took. It's nothing against JJB, because he played well when he was in there. But there's no reason not to play him. I understand he's a rook, but come on, trust the kid. I swear, something always good happens when he's in the game.
Play him, good things will happen.

Roddy's oop is number 2 on the daily top 10
EDIT: Lmaooo at Roddy's interview. He gotta learn to be more confortable with the cameras haha. Dirk wasn't making it any easier though!

His performance vs. the TWolves is already up: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JifchsVP_I8
Dunk of the night also: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J5Yphj_hHLg
I wish they had upped his other dunk. I just love Roddy's in and out move.

Just finished the game. This kid is unreal. It's not that scoring 22 is a big deal, even if it's in only 24 minutes, because it's not. A lot of "scrubs" scored 20+ points in the NBA, even regularly. It's his tools and how he does it... A combination of unique things. His shooting touch, combined with that kind of speed, with that kind of athletic ability. I honestly don't know how high this kid's ceiling's can be, but i don't think we could see it even with a big ass telescope. Imagine him with a little more muscle bulk, after he learned how to use the teardrop effectively. I mean, how can you guard him? You can't leave him for a second, because he'll drill the three, you can't crowd him, because he will beat you off the dribble. I hate when homers say "sky is the limit" for every young player on their team... But you can't really say anything else here. I'm even more happy now that that J-Kidd signed that three year deal. You couldn't find a better mentor. Did you see the teammates, coaches reactions when Roddy's on the floor? They know exactly what kind of player he can be one day.

Are we talking about the same interview? And I didn't say he didn't do well on the interview, it was just funny because sometimes it looked like he wanted to laugh haha.

After last night Roddy is ranked 6th in the league among rookies in PER.
Evans - 18.38
Blair - 18.21
Thornton - 17.01
Lawson - 16.83
Collison - 16.15
Beaubois - 15.13
* I'm excluding Gains and Green since they've played in fewer than 16 games and average less than 8 minutes per game.

Quote:
We’re all Roddy, Proud & Loud, and now there is a collection of shooting stats that further justifies our excitement over Rodrigue Beaubois’ offensive excellence: He is in the process of being the only NBA rookie ever to shoot at least 50 percent from the floor, 40 percent from the arc and 80 percent from the line.
Other notable rookie shooters from Larry Bird to Mark Price to Joe Dumars to Reggie Miller to Steve Nash never did what French Cuffs is doing.
Check this out:
Thanks to a great piece of research by Kammrath of DB.com Boards (and double-checked by the experts at mavstats), we see that Roddy’s numbers are unprecedented. Now, don’t get all silly on this; we’re not comparing Roddy B favorably to Larry Bird, Reggie Miller and Steve Nash.
We’re not doing that … but the stats are.
Going into tonight’s game at Chicago, Rodrique Beaubois has in 38 games averaged 11.6 minutes and is shooting 50.3 percent on field goals (on 4.4 FGA’s per game), 42.2 percent on 3-pointers (1.7 attempts per game) and 80 percent on FT’s (0.7 FTA’s per game).
That has NEVER been done before.
As Kammrath points out, fine young players like Jeff Hornacek, Steve Kerr and Joe Dumars didn’t do such a thing until their fourth seasons in the NBA. Fine young shooters like Reggie Miller and Drazen Petrovic didn’t do this until their third years in the NBA. Mark Price did it in his second year in the NBA.
But no one has done it in his rookie year....until now.
Additionally, mavstats checks in with DallasBasketball.com to add that its double-check of the numbers confirms that since the implementation of the 3-point arc in 1979, the only guy who has come close is Rex Walters, who fell just short of the minutes and the trey attempts.
Think about it: From 1947 until today, in a player’s rookie year (with more than 10 games, more than 10 mpg, and more than 0.5 3-point tries per game), it’s never been done.
This doesn’t make Roddy B the equal of Joe Dumars. Hey, the kid could fall on his face in Chicago tonight, right? It doesn’t even “prove’’ that he deserves to be considered a talent on the level of fellow rookie guards Tyreke Evans, Brandon Jennings and the rest.
But it proves Roddy B is special … and that statistically, at this moment, he’s one of a kind.

Made me curious and yeah, he did :
http://www.foxsportssouthwest.com/pa...z4w9eweD6ubmhX (postgame interview with skin is there)
He has some phrases that he uses frequently in every interview since the preseason days, like "like I said", "like you said" and "for sure".
I wonder if one could make something out of this, for example, when Roddy goes the next time from baseline to baseline within seconds for a lay-up to end the quarter, the broadcast team could insert Roddy saying "Like I said, I can push the ball.", as they did with the Jet sound. Next time he goes for 15 points in a quarter, insert an old interview bite "Like I said, I can shoot.", when he jumps over peoples heads to block a lay-up; "Like you said, we need to play aggressive". Or better don't do that, I guess now I'm just daydreaming again.

He seems to be good friends with Marion, and while I like that, I'm not sure what this does to his efforts to learn the language.

If Roddy had gotten consistent minutes throughout the season he would have been in the ROY conversation.

My favorite Roddy stat from the last three games?
Only 3 turnovers total in the last 3 games in extended minutes.
That was a definite weakness earlier in the season.

Unfortunately for Roddy, we got a traffic jam at the 2 guard when Terry comes back. There's gotta be a way to get him minutes there.

I take that problem.
It was important that Roddy show after the season beginning that he is able to contribute in important games.
And yes, he has confidence, he took 1-2 pretty bad shots at the end of the game

I agree. I would like Marion coming off the bench at the 3 and 4 with moving Butler to the 3. Then Jet can get some minutes as the 6th man. This is just a pipe dream though. I don't think Carlisle would do it. So basically,
Kidd/Terry
Beaubois/Terry
Butler/Marion
Nowitzki/Marion
Haywood/Dampier

When Roddy is in the game I never look away from the TV, even for a second. He is just so exciting.

So Kidd would basically guard Artest? That's not something you want to do for extended minutes.

No, Roddy shouldn't start. He'll come in with JET and we'll have people being as scared of our bench as they are of our starting lineup. Talk about offensive explosion.

My thoughts exactly. But I like to think he's been doing well as of late because of the time he had to sit and learn from J Kidd, Terry, Carlisle, etc.
But it sure seems that had he not landed on a team that has serviceable guards out the yen-yang, he could definitely be in the ROY discussion.
His FG% has been a-mazing.

Yes, that's what I meant. Against the Lakers, it will be either Roddy guarding Kobe or Kidd guarding Artest.

Yeah no doubt Dallas is better off going big against the Lakers with Butler and Marion against Kobe and Artest. No reason Kidd needs to play heavy minutes when Terry comes back. Gotta keep Beaubois confident.

Beaubois, a rookie, has now set or tied career highs in three straight games after scoring 22 the previous night against Sacramento and 17 against Minnesota on Wednesday. He scored 18 in the third quarter as the Mavericks extended their lead to 94-80, and the Mavericks improved their longest streak since a 17-game run three years ago.
"He's a talent," said Jason Kidd, who had 15 assists and 11 rebounds. "He's going to be a special player in this league. He's a great student."
And he has a great teacher running the point in Kidd.
"It's incredible," Beaubois said. "You know J-Kidd knows the game. He knows everything. He really has tried to help me, give me advice. I really appreciate it."

Great job by Kidd on mentoring Beaubois. This is the first time I feel that trade (Harris for Kidd) is paying off now that we have Beaubois and Kidd finding a consistent 3 point shot this year.

I told you all that Roddy was good enough to do up the Lakers in a playoff series. Nobody agreed with me then. It looks like I was right...

Lakers are good in transition defense though with their quick bigs. Beaubois struggled in LA in his limited minutes. But maybe he is a different animal now.

May be true and hope that it is...
But he had to:
- bust ass to get where he is.
- have jkiddo talking to him every time on the bench
- have jet talking to him every time on the bench
- a coach in carlisle who will not tolarate stupid lazy ass defense.
Good for the rook, great for the mavs.
