Diva is so busy planning his flop that he misses the layup.

"15. June 29, 1998; Dirk’s Arrival – He stepped off the plane from Wurzburg, Germany all of 19 years old. Chili-bowl haircut. Big, gold hoops dangling from each ear. But then Dirk Nowitzki dazzled us inside the Baylor-Tom Landry Center gym. 3-pointers with each hand. And a smooth, flowing stride leading to effortless dunks. The Flamingo Fadeway wasn’t yet born, but just days after the NBA Draft Nowitzki’s star was already rising."
"1. June 12, 2011; NBA Champs – As Dirk Nowitzki made a lefty layup to give the Mavs a 9-point lead in the final minute, I found myself trying to do my job – blog and type and talk – amidst a stream of tears. It was so perfect. In Miami, against the Heat team and player (Dwyane Wade) that negated the ’06 title run. Favorite moment: Original owner Don Carter handing the Larry O’Brien trophy to Finals MVP Nowitzki. Sometimes, if you stick with it long enough, life turns out to be fair after all."

TV announcers were talking about it during a MAVS-OKC game if i remember right. They were also saying that VC and T-mac should have stayed on the same team... and other stuff like that.

Dirk was already a better player than Vince Carter in 2002. I don't remember this..but I find it difficult to believe that such an offer would have taken place at that stage in Dirk's career. Plus, Nash was already an All-Star at that time.

ESPN's Top 25 Single-Game Performances in NBA Postseason History:
Quote:
12. Dirk Nowitzki, Mavericks: 2011 Western Conference finals, Game 1
48 points (12-15 FG, 24-24 FT), 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 blocks in 41 minutes.
Dallas Mavericks forward Dirk Nowitzki was unstoppable at the start of Game 1 of the 2011 Western Conference finals against the Oklahoma City Thunder. Nowitzki made 10 of his first 11 shots en route to a 48-point night. Nowitzki also made an NBA playoff-record 24 straight free throws. The Mavs had nine days off before the start of the Thunder series. Nowitzki said he got in some extra shooting practice during the layoff between rounds.

Dirk's game was ranked ahead of Tim Duncan's monster game in 2003.

12. Dirk 12-15 FG 24-24 FT 48 PTS
11. Jordan 21-37 FG 13-18 FT 55 PTS
Dirk's line is more impressive...of course it was not vs. Barkley during the finals.
The rest is OK.

Splitting hairs between Dirk and the Best Basketball Player Ever is a helluva compliment to Dirk (and well-deserved...)

Still think Dirk's 50 point explosion in game 5 against Phoenix in 2006 should have been on that list.

If that Dirk performance was in the Finals last year, it'd almost have to be #1, right?

Wasn't this video made by some poster here?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tJB0v...e=context-vrec
Is that it for playoff runs from the Big German? It would appear so, at least wearing a Dallas uni, which is a crying shame. I suppose I'll just have to embrace the hell out of that run.
