Nobody made him sign that contract. He could have held out for more or signed a one year tender offer.

That's true.
Atlanta...looks good with that signing. I didn't think I would say that when all things were done.

GM On Iguodala: 'No Deal Yet'
http://www.realgm.com/src_wiretap_ar...a_no_deal_yet/
According to Phil Jasner of the Philadelphia Daily News, reports that forward Andre Iguodala has signed a 6 year, $80 million extension are premature.
Jasner received an email response from Sixers GM Ed Stefanski saying that there was "nothing to report from our side."
Later, in Los Angeles on vacation, he was interviewed by Tom McCarthy, of the Phillies' broadcast team, during the Phils-Dodgers game.
When asked about Iguodala, he said, "Right now we're still negotiating. I hope it comes to fruition, but there's no deal yet.''
Comcast SportsNet is saying that while a deal has been agreed to in principle, it has not yet been finalized and would not be so as of last night.
According to the Daily News, there has been speculation that agent Rob Pelinka initially asked for a maximum contract, and the two sides have been negotiating from there.

Bucks, OKC And Cavs Talking Three-Way Deal?
Aug 13, 2008 9:52 AM EST
Mo Williams could be headed to Cleveland of part of a three-way deal with the Bucks receiving Luke Ridnour from Oklahoma City, according to The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel.
NBA sources have confirmed that there have been discussions between the three teams.
Delonte West is rumored to be part of the deal as well, in a sign-and-trade, because the Cavaliers haven't been able to come to terms with him on a new deal.
If West isn't included in the deal, Oklahoma City could receive forward Joe Smith, who has an expiring contract.

^^If it is Delonte West out...wouldn't he be going back to the Former Seattle Sonics?
I don't think they would want him back after trading him away. Westbrook is the future.

Three-Way Deal Done
Aug 13, 2008 3:22 PM EST
An NBA executive said the Cavaliers, in a trade expected to be completed later today, finally have acquired a top-level point guard in executing a six-player, three-team deal.
The Milwaukee Bucks traded point guard Mo Williams to the Cavs in exchange for the expiring contracts of guard Damon Jones and forward Joe Smith.
As part of the deal, the Bucks will receive Jones and Oklahoma City point guard Luke Ridnour. Oklahoma City acquires Smith and Bucks forward Desmond Mason. Oklahoma City also will send swingman Adrian Griffin to the Bucks.

Nice move by the Cavs to get Mo Williams. He should be able to help Lebron with the scoring load and distributing.
Solid move by Oklahoma City to get Mason and Smith.
Not really thrilled on the Bucks end but who cares.

We're losing another one overseas:
Quote:
Pargo to play in Russia
By Adrian Wojnarowski, Yahoo! Sports 5 hours, 21 minutes ago
Yahoo! Sports
BEIJING – New Orleans Hornets free agent guard Jannero Pargo, a valued sixth man, has reached an agreement in principle with Moscow Dynamo on a one-year contract worth about $4 million, sources close to the negotiations told Yahoo! Sports.
Some details still needed to be worked out Friday before the contract could be finalized, but sources said there were no hurdles left that should jeopardize the deal.
Once again, an American-born player with options in the NBA has chosen to take a more lucrative offer overseas. Pargo is the second NBA player to sign with Dynamo this summer, joining ex-New Jersey Nets forward Bostjan Nachbar. They’ll play for American-born coach, David Blatt, who was hired to take over the team.
Pargo, 28, had developed into a dangerous bench scorer for the Hornets and attracted the interest of several teams, including the San Antonio Spurs and Atlanta Hawks. New Orleans wanted to keep him – and Pargo’s preference was to stay – but the Hornets had invested too much available money in free agent James Posey to make a strong enough bid.
The lure of guaranteed money in Russia trumped the most serious bids made by the Spurs and Hawks.
Pargo averaged 8.1 points in 18.7 minutes in the regular season, but played well in the Hornets Western Conference playoff run. He had 30 points in a Western Conference playoff Game 3 against the Dallas Mavericks, and 18 points in Game 7 of the conference semifinals against the Spurs. He averaged more than 10 points a game in the postseason.

Sixers bring back Ratliff
Philadelphia, PA - The Philadelphia 76ers have signed free agent center Theo Ratliff.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but a report Tuesday in the Philadelphia Daily News said the 35-year-old Ratliff has accepted a one-year deal for the league minimum of $1.4 million.
"We are very fortunate to sign a player of Theo's caliber," Sixers general manager Ed Stefanski said. "He is a consummate professional who will provide us with additional depth in the front court."
A 13-year veteran, Ratliff played for the Sixers from mid-December of 1997 through late February of 2001.
Ratliff has also played for Atlanta, Detroit, Portland, Boston and Minnesota. In 705 NBA games, including 504 starts, he has averaged 7.9 points, 6.1 rebounds and 2.63 blocks.
After being traded from Boston to Minnesota as part of the Kevin Garnett deal, Ratliff was waived by the Timberwolves on February 29 and signed with Detroit. He appeared in just 26 games last season and averaged 4.3 points, 3.4 rebounds and 1.46 blocks.
Ratliff is one of seven players in NBA history to lead the league in blocks at least three seasons and is 18th all-time in league annals with 1,855 total blocked shots.

Nuggets re-sign sharp-shooter Smith with multiyear deal
link
DENVER -- The Denver Nuggets re-signed restricted free agent J.R. Smith to a multiyear contract on Friday.
The 22-year-old guard averaged 12.6 points for the Nuggets over the past two seasons.
He shot nearly 40 percent from 3-point range, the best percentage in team history for players with at least 100 3-pointers.
Smith was acquired from Chicago in 2006 in exchange for Howard Eisley and two second-round draft picks. He was drafted by the New Orleans Hornets in the first round and 18th overall in 2004.

Celtics bring in Miles
The Celtics announced today that they have signed free agent forward Darius Miles to a non-guaranteed contract.
"He's coming to training camp and he's going to try to prove that he can make the team," said Celtics general manager Danny Ainge. "He has come in for a couple of workouts. He'll try to make the team somehow."
Miles, a 6 foot 9 inch, 235-pound forward out of East St. Louis High School, has career averages of 10.6 points, 5.2 rebounds and 1.15 blocks in 412 career games. He was originally drafted with the third overall pick in the 2000 NBA draft by the Los Angeles Clippers.
Miles said he is excited for the opportunity to play with the defending champions.
“I’ve watched the Boston Celtics play a lot last year and loved what I saw in their teamwork and chemistry on the court and it’s the team that I want to try to resume my career with.” Miles said in a press release. “I am excited about having an opportunity to play on a team that I feel my personality fits with and a team that can have great success on the court.”
Miles last played for the Portland Trail Blazers during the 2005-06 season when he averaged a career high 14.0 points and 4.6 rebounds in 40 games. Miles missed all of the 2006-07 and 2007-08 seasons due to microfracture surgery on his right knee. Jason Kidd, Anfernee Hardaway, and Amare Stoudemire are players who have undergone similar procedures.
Ainge feels confident that Miles is completely healthy.
"He's healthy. He has a great attitude. He's ready to resume his career," said Ainge.

Travis Outlaw is currently complaining in Portland demanding a larger role and not wanting to be a 6th man for forever. I would take him as my starting SF in a second.
Kidd/Howard/Outlaw/Dirk/Damp/Diop
and I would actually call our off-season a success.
