Thanks for the +rep that put me on top, Sike - I'm the new Dr. Bio!

I think the Rep feature in general has slowed way down. I only have 10 reps in the past month and am still somehow that high as well.
Who knows.

It has been slowing down gradually ever since Dr Bio stopped flooding the market...

Well looking at the top 25 - generally everyone there is friendly with each other and they give each other rep, and that rep is worth more than other peoples. So me getting two UD reps in the past month is worth more than 10 reps (or whatever the ratio is) by people on the 3rd or 4th page.

That is a solid grouping. If I only ragged on the dumb newbies as often as UD, maybe I could move up the list!!

Nah, I don't get +rep from bagging on noobs - I get it from posting the same exact picture of Dirk as a big-nutted squirrel over & over again...

What is the deal with the Zappos Santa commercials? Every time I watch one, I feel like I'm missing some inside joke that is supposed to make the commercial understandable.

Hopefully they'll stop posting once they realize their ads aren't sticking - I don't think they get paid unless their posts remain viewable for at least 24 hours...

Bah, some thugs just tried to crack a nice V70 in front of my house. Since then about 15 cop-cars have come around. At least that works. I allowed the neighbor to park in my lot so that the car does not have to park on the street with a broken window.

Note to self: Always double check for yourself that an idea for an Android app hasn't already been executed very successfully before starting on your own version. Even if your idiot friend assures you that he's looked around and has found nothing that does what he wants, STILL double check before spending 20+ hours getting the first pieces of of app put together.
Uggg.

A shift calendar. He's a firefighter and wants an app to keep track of what shift is on at any given time, track Kelly days, shift swaps, etc.
It's a foreign enough concept to me that it seemed like something that might not have been done well yet. And he swore he couldn't find any. But apparently he's a moron because I found one tonight with 4.5 stars, over 10,000 downloads, and a feature list that would take me quite a long time to duplicate.
But my calendar looks way better than theirs. So I've got that going for me.
Oh well, it was good practice. I'm just disappointed because I have a hard time coming up with good ideas for apps, and I thought I had one to work on.

That sucks. Are a software designer? Maybe you can somehow turn it into something innovative. Like you said, at least it's good practice. And maybe you can use it for yourself.

Basically just a way for him to keep track of his work schedule. When you work one day on and two days off, it can be hard to figure out your schedule months in advance when you need to schedule vacation. Plus, they get every 9th shift off (for payroll machinations) so that further complicates things.
So having an app that lets you just scroll through different months and see what days you'd be working is valuable. And on a daily basis just knowing what shift is working. I actually wouldn't mind knowing that myself because I'm always trying to call him when he's at the station and can't be reached.
There were other little things he wanted, like syncing up an alarm clock to the schedule so he didn't have to remember when to turn it on and when to turn it off.

Yeah I'm a software developer. I might still finish it just to get a fully fleshed out app on the market.

That makes sense. My brother-in-law does shift work, but it's 3.5 days on and 3.5 days off on the same schedule, rotating every six weeks, so it's much easier to forecast. Your friend's schedule sounds like it is hard to forecast even into next week. (Not that he would need an app to get to next week, but for times down the line I can see where it would be handy.)
But then again, you could whip him something up in Excel in about five minutes that would cover the rest of his life, if nothing changed. Sharing with others as you described, though, seems useful.
A couple curious questions:
1) What is a Kelly day?
2) How's come he can't be reached when he is at the station?

They get every 9th shift off. It has something to do with payroll and not going into overtime. That shift off is called a Kelly day.
He's not supposed to be on his cell phone while he's at the station. I'm not sure if that's a general rule, or because he's a rookie.
