MLB TRADE UPDATE FROM JAYSON STARK
The A's have been told they don't have the bullets to land Soriano. Marlins-Tigers-Washington 3-way looks like it's on life support. Another team was told by Bowden he has two deals he can do right now on Soriano _ one with an NL team (Astros?), one with an AL team (Twins?). And on Tejada, I was told there's only a 5 percent chance of that deal going down now.

I'm beginning to think we're done.
It's probably not fair to JD, with his unexpected aquisition of Lee, but if we are done, I'm going to be a bit disappointed. I don't see us taking the division with our current pitching staff.
It certainly won't be from lack of effort though.

I think he unload Barajas no matter what, even prospects. It's time to give the job to laird, and Rods a FA.
And I think he'll try his hardest to move Wilk also.
They might not get a pitcher for now, but I have a feeling JD just wants to get rid of them for something NOW.
And I'm sure he's very disappointed the Bal/Hous deal fell apart. Eventually he has to trade hank if he's gonna keep throwing his name out there

I think Hank gets traded this offseason.
I don't think he's trying to dump Wilk. Now is really not the time to trade Wilk. This is pretty much the low point of his career. You'd have to think once he gets his shoulder fixed, he'll come back stronger.

I've never been a big barajas fan, so I'm PRAYING we deal him with another piece for a solid rotation guy.

Nothing wrong with Stairs. Nice professional hitter, make a good DH.

I'm guessing Barajas and Wilkerson are going to be moved?
No idea what this trade brings otherwise.

He was a hired gun a few years ago....his talent drained in Oakland. He has very little in his bag at this point and strikes out too much. A few years ago this is a good deal, today not so much.

looks like maybe Wilks replacement,
Stairs = Wilk
Ojeda = Barajas
you think this means Wilk & Barajas = Lidge
or possibly someone else.

especially with the multitude of bats that we have. we are already struggling to give our guys consistant ABs. if barajas, wilkerson, or someone along those lines isnt moved ill be disappointed by this move.

He has a .350 OBP. I have zero problem giving up a nothing prospect for him.
I will admit, since he's a leftie, he does seem to duplicate Wilk somewhat. If he was a righty it would make a lot more sense.

a woeful defense doesnt really hurt ones ERA. ive never seen this guy pitch so i dont know much about him but the left handed johns have put up better numbers than this guy in our league. we better not have given up anyone on our major league roster for him.

BTW, back to Stairs. If nothing else he can be a quality bat on the bench. Right now we have a shortage of those.

The combination of Stairs and Wells makes me think we gave up Wilkerson for Wells. If we did, I will be very upset.

Strikeouts are just outs. We will miss his year he puts up next year, if my guess is correct.
BTW, Wells has been pretty decent in July. But jeez. Average pitchers going from the NL to the AL. Is he really going to be better thah Koronka/Rhino?

Underwhelmed after names like Lidge, Oswalt, Tejada have been thrown around.

my point exactly. is it worth giving up a player on your major league roster to not even upgrade your staff. ive looked up his stats, hes had some solid years and is coming off an injury so he could come back strong

C'mon, doesn't he look like a Buck guy?
Stairs will be nice to have to platoon at DH and pinch hit. Wait, maybe that's what you meant. The Rangers don't pinch hit.

I'm bummed we didn't trade Barajas, assuming there isn't something left we haven't heard of.
I guess we can still trade him after he clears waivers, which he's sure to do.

Not so fast....the trades will be announced for the next hour or so as they filter through the league office. Barajas may have been dealt and we dont know it yet.
