Starting rotation is really beat up right now. Could very seel Matt Harrison's debut in the Angels series.
I recommend setting your expectations for the series low.

At the same time, debut pitchers often do well for the reason that the opponents don't have film on them. If the Rangers are a good enough team to win the division, they should do well in this series. I'm expecting a split at worst!

Maybe true, but I don't really think the Rangers are good enough to win their division. Run differential alone shows that they've been pretty lucky this season.
Like I've said, anything close to a pennant race is gravy for me. This is all about building towards next season, and the seaons after.

This is how much my family disliked baseball: I just now, at the age of 26, learned what slugging percentage is, and how to calculate it.

So Hurley's been scratched from his start tomorrow night, and Matt Harrison is making his major league debut.
Now, I'm very excited to see Harrison (a lefty! yay). However, Padilla is still very questionable for Wednesday. If he can't go, and Hurley still can't go....I have no idea what they will do. Pray for rain maybe.

Like I said, set your expectations low. Mendoza is not a starting pitcher. I hope we move him back to the bullpen.

Oh if we could only pitch
Kinsler is such a bad ass, btw. And the guys on the Ticket were complaining that Hamilton doesn't have any extra base hits any more....double tonight.

Wow it literally took less than 2 minutes after me shouting "Rally!" for us to give up another run.

Great try to rally back tonight.
Couple of thoughts:
Big thanks to Nippert for saving the bullpen and keeping things somewhat interesting. Really, really nice performance.
Max Ramirez is a MAN!! Holy crap way to hold one, and then he pulled the okey doke! Loved it.
Even made a rally against a guy threatening to destroy the single season save record.
But...not enough.

Great showing by Nippert.
Hard to beat the first place team with 3 errors. Good effort

Also, two really, really encouraging pitching performances by Rangers in the minors tonight. Still more talent in the pipeline.

When you dig yourself an 8-0 hole against what might be the best team in baseball, I guess it's nice that they had the tying run at the plate. Just too big of a hole to start out in.
Kinsler for MVP.

Kinsler is definitely in groove right now. Arguably the hottest groove in all of baseball so far this year. If only he was half as good on defense =]

Not really Rangers related, but the Dodgers' Kuroda has thrown a perfect game through 7....
*edit* Jinxed it. He gave up a hit on his first pitch of the 8th.

Padilla can't go tomorrow, so now we're calling up a non-prospect to pitch. As in, a guy that is in the organization just to fill out minor league rosters.
The Texas League (that's double A) is hitting .304 against him.....
*sigh*

Ballard shines in the lights, though! The two televised starts I've seen him in, he's looked pretty good. Yes, I know that means he's been all that much worse in his other starts.

It's nearly 8:00 p.m., and the Rangers haven't given up a single run.

Oh, THIS guy is not a no-name fill in. At all. This guy is going to be in the Rangers rotation for a long time.
The no-name fill in pitches tomorrow.

Pitching and no hitting
Or no pitching, and lots of hitting
Why can't they get it all together on the same night?
