Luka's number not 37 next season. That deal doesn't kick in until 2022/23 season. You are confusing me.

Luka's cap # is still $10.2 for this season. His extension kicks in next season.
We will have some tough decisions next offseason. We need to start moving some of the dead weight off the roster.
Kleber's $9m is non-guaranteed, but becomes fully guaranteed on 7/3/2022.
Boban ($3.5m), Burke ($3.3m PO), Powell ($11.1m) are borderline useless.
Brunson ($3.4m) and DFS ($7.6m) will have workable cap holds, but will be in line for big raises.

Great Job Jack.Kerr You are a real Mensa member
What a ridiculous post. Luka single handedly gets a 2 million person country to the Olympics for the first time and is one blocked shot away from playing for the gold and you post this? Of course you can relate when Trae took a similarly untalented Oklahoma team all the way to the 64 team NCAA tournament but then lost in the first round.

https://bleacherreport.com/articles/...nen-freeze-out
Quote:
However, DeRozan never truly entertained that mid-level salary figure, sources said. The Bulls were the main franchise to actively pursue an agreement with DeRozan as free agency opened, while the Miami Heat and Dallas Mavericks prioritized chasing Kyle Lowry. Portland, Phoenix and Philadelphia would have needed to add DeRozan through intricate sign-and-trade scenarios, thus slowing their pursuits.
|
Quote:
Either way, each team that has inquired about Markkanen would have to now add him via sign-and-trade, as cap space has dwindled across the league. Dallas, New Orleans, Boston, and Minnesota have all shown interest in signing Markkanen to deals worth around $15 million in average annual value, sources said, but the Bulls are seeking a first-round pick in exchange for helping facilitate the transaction. Additionally, Chicago brass are requiring Markkanen's new team to find a third trade partner to take on the outgoing salary needed to create space for Markkanen's contract.
For a third team to take on unwanted salary, this hypothetical front office would also ask for draft-pick compensation. So any team that wants to add Markkanen now would have to send a first-round pick to Chicago and likely another first or two second-rounders elsewhere. It's a clear roadblock the Bulls seem to have intentionally created.
|
Quote:
With that, there's a belief among many league personnel that Markkanen will ultimately be forced into accepting a one-year qualifying offer that would pay him roughly $9 million and allow him to reach unrestricted free agency next summer, just like LaVine. Yet, there's also a strong sense Markkanen has no intent to return to Chicago on that structure.
Markkanen has always reported to offseason team workouts and fit seamlessly within the Bulls' locker room, but has recently taken to Finnish media and voiced his desire to play for a different team. It now appears Markkanen will be in no rush to return from Finland to Chicago while his interested suitors continue exploring trade scenarios with third teams.
How long could the standoff last? Goran Dragic remains in a similar limbo, which sources with knowledge of his standing with the Toronto Raptors said could potentially linger until September. Raptors officials sought to find a third team interested in acquiring Dragic from Toronto's sign-and-trade that sent Lowry to Miami, sources said, yet no front office was willing to exchange draft capital for a player they believe Toronto will ultimately buy out.
Raptors brass will meet with Dragic's team at Las Vegas Summer League to further discuss their situation, sources said. The veteran point guard, expectedly, has designs on playing in the postseason and has publicly conveyed his intrigue in teaming with countryman Luka Doncic in Dallas. Perhaps he and Markkanen will both end up as Mavericks at long last.

I mean, I'm not sure how much longer these media types can drag what's not really happening into something happening. Dragic and Markkanen are both long shots even as individual gets. And I don't see anything happening anytime soon with either player.

Do you see a deal for Dragic coming together between the Mavericks and the Raptors? Marc Stein: I think it’s gonna be tough. They’ve already tried, based on everything I’ve been told. Toronto has been resistant to it.
Marc Stein: Everything I hear is there’s no way Toronto was going to buy him out. Why would they? I mean, he is he is a trade chip. –

Now. 21 was the LA midseason offer, you start at 15, 2-3 years, if he wants 1, then give him the 1. I would imagine, Kidd after last year, should provide Nico and staff some inside information.

I think the price is even lower from reports. Apparently he wants the 9.5 midlevel from Boston. But they only want to give the taxplayer mle.

I suppose more context is needed than the quote I posted because if the question was, “do you feel you improved the roster this offseason?”, you can’t expect Cuban to say no.

Zach Lowe: One book-keeping note in case it’s not out there already: Sterling Brown’s deal with the Dallas Mavericks is a two-year, $6 million contract — fully guaranteed, sources say.

Heck even doing the trade deadline this year without making any significant moves Cuban mentioned the Mavs would be better just because of continuity

It's funny though how many fans are against it. I look at it like this...
If Lauri and KP don't fit, but Lauri is better at a reasonable contract? That makes trading KP much easier.

I agree. Hell I’m fine with signing Lauri and using him as a trade piece if needed. We just need good players that can get us great players when they become available. We know KP is going to miss time. Prob Lauri too. Hopefully it just wouldn’t be at the same time if we can get him.

Signing Lauri for $11m a year is a no brainer. Send Bulls a 2nd to facilitate. They should do it because that exception could add a nice role player in a playoff push. Alternatively, Lauri is bleeding leverage and may ultimately end up signing that QO. Bulls may feel they're better off just keeping him.

Yeah, I don't see why the Bulls do it unless we sweeten the pot. They could just keep him with the QO and trade him for a better asset down the line.

As for Lauri I agree with everyone else... you take him without question if you can get him for TPE and 2nd or similar. We need assets and the TPE expires in a year. It's hard to imagine getting much better than Lauri. Gives options with KP's future at the very least. For his defense... Look I just watched the Clippers pnr Gobert to death and make him chase shooters in the corner and make him a liability as the best defensive big in basketball by a mile. Barring an exception like Giannis bigs are getting exposed a lot with spacing in todays game. At the very least Lauri brings offense to the table off the bench or in place of KP that alone makes him absolutely worth the TPE if he can be had.
IMO Chicago says no though. They can just make him sign the QO at this point and trade him later.

We have vet minimum, but MLE went to Bullock. Sign and trade is an option, but thinking Kidd having been in LA last year with Schroder probably has some in side information.

Last week, former Dallas Mavericks point guard Dennis Smith Jr. told DallasBasketball.com that he was interested in making a return to his old team. But the real question after that was, what would the Mavs’ interest level be in a Smith Jr. comeback? “We don’t have (any open) roster spots yet,” Cuban tells DallasBasketball.com when asked about potentially bringing Smith Jr. back. “But if that changes, it’s a conversation to have.” – via Dalton Trigg @ Sports Illustrated

Kidd had him in LA last season and probably had some things to share with Nico. The skillset is a need for Dallas, 5.9...speaks volumes about what Kidd learned about Schroder last year.

Isn't that what you want from your 6th man? Just go out there and score. And I mean if the worst thing in the world is him racking up points and assists....sort of like REggie Jackson last year? Not a bad thing to have on your team.
