No idea. He's been terrible. He has the occasional decent game but even his decent games he's incredibly inefficient.

Luka will win ROY
BUT if the Mavs win 50 games (I know I am being very optimistic here)...does look have a case for MVP if her puts up 20 6 and 4 all year??
Any thoughts??

I dunno about MVP, but All-Star might be in the cards.

The graphic above has a cutoff of 200 shots which several people have criticized that there are lots of players just below that threshold that are in the low-60's. Still not in Steph range but good none the less.
Looking at just pure EFG% (which I honestly don't even know how is calculated):
https://www.teamrankings.com/nba/pla...efg-percentage
#1 Rudy Gobert Utah Jazz C 69.8%
#6 Stephen Curry Golden State Warriors PG 64.6%
#10 DeAndre Jordan Dallas Mavericks C 62.7%
#67 Luka Doncic Dallas Mavericks SF 53.6%
#71 Wesley Matthews Dallas Mavericks SG 53.1%
#98 Dennis Smith Jr. Dallas Mavericks PG 50.5%
Steph is the first non-big guy at the top with Moore jumping in at #12. So I guess Steph is still amazing as if noone disputes that but Goldberry's graphic emphasizes it quite a bit more given the right numerical restriction of 200+ shots.
I love stats and all, but they can almost always either say what you want or reinforce what you want with the right set of restrictions. I honestly LOL at some of the stats that pop up during NBA and NFL games. They do anything they can to make games or players look amazing.

eFG is easy to calculate. Let's say you took 1 shot from 3-point range and made it and took no other shots. You have an eFG of 150%.
eFG = (2P + 1.5 * 3P) / FGA
So for Stephen Curry he has 60 2-pointers made, 62 3-pointers made, and 237 field goal attempts.
(60 + 1.5 * 62) / 237 = (60 + 93) / 237 = 153 / 237 = .646
I'd like to add how we should add to how crazy his stats are. This does not account for his free throw shooting. He's 48 for 52 from the free throw line (.923).

Doncic squeaking in at #100 in FTA / FGA
1 Quincy Pondexter San Antonio Spurs SF 0.833
4 Rudy Gobert Utah Jazz C 0.715
8 DeAndre Jordan Dallas Mavericks C 0.619
14 James Harden Houston Rockets SG 0.491
22 Marvin Bagley III Sacramento Kings PF 0.455
68 Wendell Carter Jr Chicago Bulls PF 0.328
76 Jaren Jackson Jr. Memphis Grizzlies PF 0.314
100 Luka Doncic Dallas Mavericks SF 0.273
As a side note, Gobert appears in the top of a lot of these advanced stats which is pretty interesting.

I hope Doncic is really happy here because I want him to be a Mav for life. Also he needs to get a max contract from us. Luckily, we have time for that, but he'll be worth it.

Can Dennis Smith Jr. and Luka Doncic play together?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jy4EHrCIDgA
nice little montage and discussion
obviously a work in progress but more and more I think we just need to be patient as they learn to play with each other

What will go a long way is if DSJ takes just a bit of a back seat offensively and continues to work on his defensive game...It's ok if DSJ is only the #3-#4 option on offense moving forward..

It's an interesting conversation for sure. Would we all be OK if he became a better version of say....Avery Bradley?

@esefko
Per Rick Carlisle, Luka Doncic (hip) is much improved and looks like a good chance he returns Tuesday against Blazers after missing Sunday vs. Clips. Maxi Kleber a little less certain with right knee soreness. Dennis Smith Jr. getting a root canal today but should be fine Tuesday

Fake news got me again! I was thinking he's won 3 RotM awards (Oct, Nov, Dec?)? And I was also thinking how did Trae win it with him?
https://www.basketball-reference.com/awards/rom.html
This was the first RotM award this year.
Trae was the East winner and Doncic was the West.

If you like me plan to tune into the latest "30 thoughts for 30 teams" Ringer Podcast and hoping for a solid Mavs / Luka take, I can save you some disappointment. You are going to wait the full pod only for them to play out the show with "Halleluka".

Does anyone have any insight as to what the camera work is like overseas? Is it more wide shots with less of the closeups in between the action? I notice that Luka seems to get caught making goofy faces and things more often than others. Maybe he just doesn't care, but I was wondering if there was any difference in how those games are televised that might explain some of it.

It’s just his personality. He just put there having fun while playing a kids game. Tonight was another example. He got left hanging and had to dap himself. He just has a silly personality which is one of the things that makes him great if you ask me.

Here you go, a YT video from a EUROLEAGUE match. Double ankle breaker and reaction. He is just a kid who is enjoying playing basketball, and does this in a fantastic way.

Shooting guard Wesley Matthews half-kiddingly accuses Barea of being "soft" on Doncic, saying the Puerto Rican guard goes easy on the rookie who spent the previous six years in Spain because "they speak Spanish and listen to Bad Bunny together and all that stuff."
But Barea figures Doncic has earned the special treatment due to his professional experience and production. "He's a different rookie," Barea says with a shrug. "He won't follow the rules to perfection, but he's cool about it."

LeBron James asked about AD comments, goes on to name all the greatest players in the league he'd love to play with -- mentions Luka Doncic in the same breath as Durant, Butler, Giannis, Embiid, etc.: https://twitter.com/taniaganguli/sta...65867787505664
19 years old and already seen as one of the best by the best basketball player in the world... No pressure, kid.
