Cuban signs off on Kidds shit. Its a direct relection of his hire. Also, he knows fuck all. Kidd will be here until he doesnt want to be.

Don't think anything is wrong with Lively as he is at practice doing shooting drills with other players.

https://twitter.com/noahweber00/stat...31080120418314

And that's just it. Lively is actually a really good offensive player. If he starts making threes, then he shoulda been picked in the top 5 easily.

Kidd came out and said it was because "Nets played small with Simmons at center"

One of the worst excuses I've ever heard, but at least he (kinda) addressed it.

But it's total bs. He should just say he doesn't like playing or trust young players...especially big men. That's at least being honest.

Powell was good last night and didn?t play much at all. I don?t get the complaints. Maxi is being overused and he looks like he may be done. He looks very tentative, and passed up a wide open three that he should have instalaunched. Luka went over and told him to shoot it after the play. THJ was just awful, and looked absolutely brain dead on both ends of the floor. If they are trying to showcase him for a trade, it ain?t working.

He played him 31 minutes in his first nba game. Used him as the closer in a close game against Pop. I?m not ready to panic, yet.

I buy Kidd?s explanation, even though I think it was the wrong decision. The play before he was pulled, there were some switching issues that led to a wide open Dinwiddie three, and a Mavs timeout. I don?t think Maxi solves the problem, but I think Kidd thought it might.

The complaints are two fold.
1) What Kidd said is a bs excuse. We dont have a proven track record of good dwfense with Maxi and DP vs small ball. DP had an incredible night for him and isnt due to do anything close to that for years, if ever again. He was a huge help for a stretch in the 4th, but its a huge stretch to even hint that he is any type of notable defender, even against small ball.

2) Kidd has done nothing but give guys random hooks that make no sense to anyone. Lively should have been rewarded with the same or more minutes after Wednesdays performance. He needs different looks to learn. Instead DP is back in the driver seat and Maxi is allowed to bumblefuck his way through the entire game.

This is my take on why so many are complaining. What has really changed, aside from 2 wins in a row in a while? Overusing DP, Maxi, TJH? - Check
Wildcard ass lineups and rotations? - check
Luka single handedly slapping a bandaid on a poorly managed game by thr coach including not using challenges on crucial momentum plays? - check
No plays called for Luka to post up, even when Kidd notes "Small Ball" ? - check
Lively kills in last game and is reqarded with half the minutes next game? - check

Get this jaggoff Kidd outta here. I was hoping for the best with the guy coming in and he had a good first year. But since then its been a free fall into the dumpster fire.

The Mavs Blog] It is an incredibly small sample size, but when Dallas ran out this lineup: Doncic - Irving - Green - Williams - Lively II Offensive Rating: 145.5 Defensive Rating: 83.3

Why does Kidd need an excuse? I don't understand this idea. What he said was his exact thought process imo, and who are the random hooks? The Mavs have never had a center on the level of Lively, since Kidd has been here. Powell and Maxi have always been the better options.

provides the best mix of offense and defense we can currently get to go with Luka/Kyrie

I wish we could come up with a better offensive scheme than Luka and Kyrie taking turns going 1v1 - please put Luka in the post when he's off the ball and have the rest set picks and cut to the hoop. Apparently Lively shoots well from distance but would like to see that in game

Only knock is the rebounding, but we don't really have any good rebounders on the team minus Luka and hopefully Lively.

What gets me is they took on Holmes's contract to draft Omax only for neither of them to sniff the court.

The issue, as it was last season, is the disconnect between what the FO likes versus what Jason Kidd actually does.

?I think Richaun Holmes is going to be the most underrated pickup of the summer," Cuban told Justin Termine and Frank Isola on SiriusXM NBA Radio. "I mean, people forget what he could do with Sacramento before he got hurt, and then they get Sabonis and he takes his place.?

Well, I mentioned a lot more than just those things.

It's an excuse to dampen fans and media criticism for going back to DP and Maxi for no logical reason. If you agree that Mavs havent had the level of Lively at center, then how do you not understand the complaints. The idea that Kidd might actually believe that Maxi and DP are vital for defending small ball is reason enough to file a complaint. A mediocre, short manned Nets team dictating our lineups is clown shoes too.

I cant count the times that guys like Hardy, Josh, Wood etc., light it up for a cpl games and then Kidd just dnpcd or gives them nothing meaningful right after...random hook. Lively was productive vs the Nets then random hook.

Being optimistic about a fresh season is all good. But again, as I asked earlier, what has really changed aside from a cpl minor upgrades to the roster.

This stuff is on JKidd, per usual. I refuse to believe Lively can't play vs small ball, especially vs Nets. I refuse to believe Holmes isnt on fn Maxi and DP level at least. Im not sure about Omax

The ONLY thing in the defense is that Jalen Duren, who is now a monster, played 20 mpg to start last year at the same young age. As long as Lively sticks in the 20-25 minute range and goes up from there, then I'll perhaps let it. And Duren was picked 13th in that draft, so that is the measuring stick as far as I'm concerned.

Anything less and I'll scream for his head til my last breath. Because I've given up on everything else just to keep my sanity with this team. Just play lively, win, and I won't complain.

If we had another actual big man OR solid defenders where we didnt rely on rim protection as much, it would only suck from a development aspect. We just dont have either of those. We actually NEED Lively now.

Mavs are keeping Lively fresh for the Tournament that starts Friday. The excitement is killing me for that tourney (LOL) but I'll be watching Game 6 of the WS assuming no team wins all 3 in Arizona. DVRs are great thing.

There were a few plays where Kleber was at the free throw line and there goes a back door from the wing for a layup, that's 4-6 gimmies, does Lively change those? Never know until we try it. November/December is when we try those things, live ammunition.

I meant that I don?t understand the complaints about Powell getting a small amount of minutes. He played less than Lively, and he was good in those minutes. I totally got the frustration with Maxi and THJ, and explained how I thought they sucked.

The idea that Kidd needs to appease Twitter jockeys and YouTubers is funny to me. He only needs to answer to Cuban, Nico, and the players. People thinking Kidd is making decisions to either troll or appease them/us are suffering from everything is about me syndrome.

If Kidd doesn?t start Lively tonight, I will start to be concerned, but I?m going to need more evidence than Christian Wood or Hardy?s treatment to worry too much, yet. Kidd tried way too hard to make Javale McGee work to make me think he wouldn?t like to see Powell and Maxi be backups.

Not too concerned if Lively starts or not, but he should be seeing close to 24-30 minutes per game. His length is game changing. Those backdoor layups with Kleber in the game, never happen with Lively back there.

Not only that, but Lively is a better offensive player than Kleber too.

If we play Kleber at the 4, then I understand that more as we don't really have a good 4 on this team.

People clamor for a two-way wing, but I think a good rebounding 4 is what we really need.

Lively definitely needs 25-30mpg. I also think he needs to be with Ky, Luka Green and Grant which means he shoukd start. He needs to help set the tone which is more minor in the overall, but when youre looking to DJJ and Maxi or DP in the slu, IDK what is happening. Its not setting the tone Kidd might be hoping for. Exum is actually way more useful than DJJ but i dont think he needs to be starting over Josh, who just got paid and has been giving max effort and makes big plays. Lively and Josh are good and they hustle every play. With the roster we have, therea not a better lineup you can roll out.
