‏@bobbykaralla: Mavs announce they've signed Argentinian wing Nicolas Brussino.

‏@bobbykaralla: He averaged 14.6 pts, 5.5 rebs, 3.1 asts and 1.5 steals per game in 59 games for Penarol in '15-16 on 55.6/39.4/72.1 shooting splits.

‏@bobbykaralla: Looks like he'll also represent Argentina at the Olympics, bringing total number of Mavs in Rio to three: Brussino, Barnes, and Bogut.

Really like the Acy signing. He's that Dejuan Blair type of guy we need playing with energy and hustle and even being undersized, can snag rebounds and dunk and hit the occasional 3. Carlisle favors those energy vet guys. Great signing by the mavs. Seems like a trend lately

If Durant and Love get hurt this year I say that the league better look out for these Mavs! I hope that doesn't happen though. I want to see this years' Warriors outperform last season's production in not only the postseason but the regular season as well. I think that should be expected after the addition of Durant and Duncan's retirement from the NBA.

Young Skywalker, he doesn't even appear to break a sweat when swapping that ball away from the shooter.

Mavs sorely missing that ferociousness under the basket. Lil extracurricular flexing after the dunk too

Does he have any jumper?

Acy reminds me of a Brandon Bass a bit.

56% from the field, 39% from three

According to 82games, 56% of his shots were jumpers and he made them at an eFG% of 50.8%

He would have competed for a roster spot in training camp with summer league star Jonathan Gibson, whose three-year minimum deal features a fully guaranteed salary for the first season. Spanish reports indicate Beaubois, who showed flashes of brilliance as a rookie in 2009-10 before injuries marred the rest of his four-year Mavs tenure, is close to agreeing on a deal with Saski Baskonia in Spain.

Good for him, good for us -- I like the players we have at the end of the bench.

Apparently he is still CURRENTLY dealing with injury issues. That, to me, is the end of the conversation.

They were released in August last year IIRC. Planning on going to the US too so I've checked this already

@espn_macmahon: The Mavs signed rookie forward Jameel Warney to a partially guaranteed two-year deal, a league source said. Warney, the three-time America East player of the year at Stony Brook, played for the Dallas team in the Las Vegas Summer League.

The Mavericks’ biggest weakness is playmaking. Here’s how they’ll fix it.

Espn being... Espn.

http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/17...west-standings

Quote:
9. Dallas Mavericks
Proj. record: 40-42
Last season: 42-40

The Mavericks added Harrison Barnes, Andrew Bogut and a player named Curry (Steph's brother, Seth) this offseason, but don't expect this team to become the Dallas Warriors. Our panel projects the Mavericks to see a decrease in wins this season. Age is a big issue here: Dirk Nowitzki is 38; Deron Williams is 32; Wesley Matthews will be 30 in October; and Bogut will be 32 in November.
Last year IYRC-
http://oi66.tinypic.com/d7qa.jpg

You could argue the Mavs did what they did with the obvious injury problems of Parsons, Dwill, and a hobbled Wes who seemed to get healthier and better(defensively especially) as the season went on. So adding Barnes and Bogut would be upgrades and every team has the caveat of "if healthy". Conversely the Blazers for instance added... Evan Turner. Yet them adding Turner means more to them than us adding a full time player in Barnes over part time Parsons and Bogut being better than Zaza and the possible progression of a bench player in Curry. I also didn't know that Wes being 30 in October was a negative, if anything being a year removed from an injury should make his projection better I would think.

Parsons is obviously a way better playmaker than what we have seen from Barnes but I also think it's a little overblown about missing that aspect from Parsons from last year. Even when healthy he couldn't use Zaza like we can use bogut as a guy to finish at the rim. Also Parsons only had about 2 possessions a game where he was the ball handler in pnr(where he was most efficient and imo underused). Last year we had an issue with playmaking and this year it won't be better and if it's worse I don't think it will be as glaring as it's being made out to be personally. I also think Barnes can dribble he just doesn't seem to have the vision Parsons had. Barnes was in a system where it's better to find one of the other myriad of scorers on the floor than take a pull up mid range. Monta wasn't exactly efficient at mid range pull ups but we certainly let him take all he wanted, primarily because we didn't have Curry and Thompson sitting on the perimeter. If Barnes can get inside the lane at 6'8 and make just an average amount of mid range pullups then a basic pass to the perimeter to an open Wes, Dirk, Dwill, or a dump off to Bogut then that's all the playmaking we really need from him imo. That is all I really hope to see from him as far as playmaking goes. I won't sweat the 2 pnr possessions a game or the pump fake initiation that Parsons primarily went to.

I always heard about Parsons' amazing playmaking, but almost never saw it here with us. He was too busy making sloppy passes and pump faking.

I agree with this. If anything, I think from a playmaking standpoint we will miss Felton way more than Parsons. I recall us relying on him to bowling ball his way to the basket quite a bit last year. He was playing 30+ mpg whenever we had a guard out with injuries. Gotta hope Curry can step up to help fill that void.

No kidding. The myth of his playmaking skills seems to linger on. If anything his needing the ball to "make plays" just hurt guys like Deron and Barea who are much better at it...especially Williams who hopefully will flourish in that dept without needing to take a back seat.

I think he wasn't used as much in a playmaker role because he was needed off ball as a shooter. We had pretty terrible shooting last year. Bottom 10 in % but top 5 in attempts as a team. He was only best in pnr anyway because he doesn't have the quickness or dribbling to beat a man off the dribble without a screen. So his playmaking rly is kinda being overblown. We can say we miss his playmaking ability but if he didn't use that ability how can we rly miss it?

I'm a Laker fan relocated to Dallas about 12 years ago. I've got to say a few things.

Cuban impresses the hell out of me. He might have miscalculated how FA was going to go with the new Labor Agreement, but he has successfully continued to field a competitive winner every year. As a Laker fan that watched the efforts crater, you have to respect what Cuban and your your coach have been able to do year in and year out.

I realize that Dirk might not be competing for a championship in his final years, but Laker fans would have given just about anything to have had a respectable coach the last couple of years, and a reasonably competitive team for Kobe's last couple of years.

Lots to be thankful for and happy about as a Mavs fan. I think some of the best signings are the ones you don't make, and I don't think the Mavs will regret Chandler bolting or not signing velvet cake man in a couple of years to the max.

I'm bummed for you guys on Pachulia since he seemed solid. I definitely enjoy going to games, and look forward to potentially meeting some of you when the Lake show comes to town. I try to get to several games a year, and I can say Cuban has done a nice job putting on a good show for fans. The man knows how to run a business. The Mavs time will come again, and it was extremely cool to see the Mavs take care of Dirk's money on the home stretch of his career.

He is one of those all time greats like Timmy that you can't help but root for. He deserved better the last few years, but when you look at the Lakers, it definitely could have been worse.

Up to 41% from three last year, but yeah it's ugly.

+good high release
+long shooting motion may throw off shotblockers
+41% from three last year
-slow release
-unconventional shot

Still, looks like just camp fodder.

That puts us at 20 doesnt it? If so, you think we'll repeat last year where we completely throw away the first few games of preseason by playing non-roster guys the entire game?
