Mavs seem to be getting brought up in a lot of different free agent talks, by the players themselves.

Brandon Roy is one of them and even though you can't really trust that he'll stay healthy i think it'd be a great pickup.
Also just read this:

Quote:
Minnesota passed on offering a qualifying offer to Anthony Randolph, making the 22-year-old an unrestricted free agent who can sign with any team. A team already showing interest, according to this story by Jeff Caplan of ESPNDallas.com, is the Dallas Mavericks.

Figured they would be. His game has been showing signs of decline and he's not nearly the weapon he used to be, but he's a savvy, salty vet who can still stroke the hell out of the three-ball.

I'd usually be against signing a aging vet but Ray Allen is a different case. He's FAR from a liability on either side of the ball and is still a dominant shooter. My only complains with signing him would be that we couldn't do it earlier in his career lol. The guy can still play. I guess it would depend on the price but I can't see him taking a pay cut to play here especially if teams are offering 2 years 12 million.

Are we talking the Ray Allen that looked like a walking corpse in the finals? I'd much rather keep Jet. He's always healthy, in amazing shape, and ready to take the big shot at all times. The Dirk-Allen 2 man game? I just can't imagine it working.

MAVS need Deron, Dirk and a quality center. The rest is irrelevant....

Allen, Jet, Roy, Kidd, Nash whatever. If we do not get Deron and a quality big, FORGET our championship chances, no matter who we sign. Life's brutal.

It's not that simple - nothing is irrelevant in our cap situation if we sign Deron.

If the off-season of the NBA, or anything NBA makes your life brutal, I sincerely feel for you.

Deron would be nice, but if we don't get him, there are a bunch of scenarios that can make this a better team than last year.

Chris Haynes, CSNNW.com Trail Blazers Insider (@ChrisBHaynes)

The unrestricted free-agent center, Marcus Camby, has narrowed his choices to the New York Knicks, Miami Heat, San Antonio Spurs, Boston Celtics, and the Dallas Mavericks, a league source told CSNNW.com.

All of these teams and then some, called Camby's agent, Rick Kaplan, shortly after July 1 hit, inquiring about his services, but at this point in his career, he's only considering teams in contention for a championship, the same source said.

I'm being told at the moment, Camby doesn't plan on taking any visits with teams, being that he's been in the league for so long and knows what he is looking for.

Camby, 38, just completed his 16th season and spent the first half of last season as a member of the Portland Trail Blazers before being traded at the trade deadline to the Houston Rockets for Jonny Flynn, Hasheem Thabeet, and a 2012 second round pick that was used to select Will Barton.

He has career averages of 9.7 points per game, 9.9 rebounds, and 2.4 blocks.
For those that laugh at camby simply because of his age, while he gives you nothing on offense he lead the league in rebounding percentage this past year and was 9th in block percentage, he would really help the defense.

Camby would be a great low cost option for us at center

He was playing with bone spurs, considering their price tags i would much rather have allen than jet.

I've always liked Camby - much better than Haywood for the price... Block, rebound, block, rebound...

Marcus would be an excellent short term, budget solution at the 5.

Camby could also be a nice mentor fit for B.James (Nard) as well.

What's his price tag going to be?

I'm a Camby fan though, much rather have him than Kaman. I guess the only negative is that if Camby and Wright are your two main centers going into the season, that's not a lot of bulk down low if you go against a load like Bynum.

No idea. But the fact that Dallas is looking at him at all tells me their expectation is that he won't be very expensive. The Mavs are going to be working on a tight budget when it comes to filling out the team if they hit on Deron.

Well, signing Camby sure does make us young.

But I think he is an excellent choice as a center. He aint as mobile as he once was, but he can still block shots, can rebound well, can drain the 15 footer when open, and would probably be one of the best centers to play **in the zone**.....

If the Mavs got Deron, Camby, and Roy, that'd be a hell of a haul. Hell of a haul.

He did that because after next year he can get a bigger payday. Or so I've been told.....

Im guessing CP wants to be a free agent next year, as long as he doesnt get hurt thats probably a good plan.

Blake Griffin makes 19mil a year now? He's good, but heck I don't know if he's that good.

Hilarious that NY is named a contender team amongst the likes of Boston, Dallas, Miami and SA. That's the NY flashing lights for you.

Camby, Roy and Deron would be so smooth.

Deron/Kidd/Roddy
Roy/West/Cunningham
Marion/JHo(whatthehell)/Miles
Dirk/Randolph?/Crowder
Camby/Wright/James

Roy and Camby would both be simply amazing.

Aren't you missing Vince Carter in there?

Lesson learned: Don't think you're too smart, Mark Cuban.
Yeah, but if we had Nash, we don't get Kidd, and no Kidd, could mean no rings...

See, the Mavs actually did win a championship after Nash and Harris, despite many fans being so opposed to those moves, so I would say that the "SCOREBOARD" still belongs to Cuban and the Mavs' front-office...

My advice, be happy with the way things worked out, because championships are hard to win, and we already got one in hand.....

It takes talent to win championships, cowboyup. No way around that.
