SPORTSbyBROOKS - SEPTEMBER 23, 2002
OLOWOKANDI ACCEPTS QUALIFYING OFFER

Los Angeles Clippers restricted free agent center Michael Olowokandi has accepted the one-year qualifying offer extended by the team earlier this summer.

Olowokandi, who is now under contract to the Clippers for the upcoming season, will be an unrestricted free agent next summer.

"I'm looking forward to getting to work," stated Olowokandi. "We have a very good team and I'm excited to get the season under way."

According to Elgin, Clippers Vice President of Basketball Operations. "We expect that Michael will work hard to continue to improve, and that he will be prepared to make a big contribution to our team's success this year."

Hello dumpsville; population: Clippers.

Bet $1,000,000 that you will hear Brand talk about wanting to be traded soon.

It doesn't HAVE to be that way. It could be very understandable for the Clips to just be choosing to max out Brand and Miller.

..but you know that's not what's gonna happen.

Oh well - get ready. We better sign Wang to a short, tradeable contract, is all I have to say.. because those young guns are going to start leaving Clippsville one by one, and we better snag ourselves one.

Can you imagine how dominant the Clippers could be if Cuban was the owner?

Yup... it's too bad that the Mavs' decade of sucking didn't result in the piling on of draft picks that the Clippers' suckage has.

..but I'm glad our decade of suck is over.. especially since the Cowboys look to be in the middle of their own Decade of Suck, and the Rangers... well.. they just have a Franchise of Suck.

maybe we can get a pick from Golden State for Wang that will be tempting to Sterling when he realizes he's going to need some more young, underpaid talent.
