I went to see the League of Extroirdinary Gentlemen this weekend. I thought it was ok, but it sure seemed to waste a lot of potential. Connery saved the show in IMO. Anyone else see this? I liked it, but I was a little disappointed.

Yeah Doc, I agree, had a lot of potential but some things really hurt its believeability (if that's even a word). For example,

SPOILERS ALERT

1. Sean Connery jumps out of a speeding 70 mph car and lands straight on his feet.

2. A guy with a machine gun has Captain Nemo at point blank range, and instead of opting to fire and kill his target, tells him to "draw his pistol". Captain Nemo cheesily claims, "I walk a different path" and proceeds to take out the gunner with martial arts. Riiiight.

3. A 5 story submarine easily cruises the canals of Venice.

The Hyde monster was at least sort of interesting, though.

Que lastima!

I had high hopes for this movie. Thanks for saving my money. Toad, I hate it when movies have unbelievable points in the storyline like you pointed out. I get a chuckle and laugh at this if I am watching at home, I cry if I am at the theater wasting my money on it.

Not to change the subject (don't get mad sweets) but I watched the new Swiss Robinson Movie on ABC last night and that was FULL of unbelievable crap. When the father and son are rescuing the other son and infiltrate the Pirate ship with about 20 Pirates around the area and NO ONE sees them?

At least my kids enjoyed it.

the premise behind LXG is a great one, and the comic on which it is based is amazing. i haven't seen the movie, but i have read that it is a letdown. apparently, connery (who produced) made A LOT of changes to the film, for the worse (making it less like the comic).

I thought the movie was entertaining, and more than a bit interesting, but with the flaws already pointed out. I'd also like to add that whoever did the makeup/special effects was on crack. Why in the world would the invisible man cover every centimeter of his head with cold cream and wear sunglasses in the dark? (including rubbing it into his eyebrows and making sure he got a nice, even coating even on the back of his neck) Surely they weren't charging him for the invisibility effect. And I usually couldn't tell if that was really Mr. Hyde up on the screen, or it it was just some guy in a big, awkward, and inflexible rubber suit.
