PGT: Mavs hold on for the win in DC
Monta Ellis have it all... Good thing too, because the rest of the starting lineup was horrible offensively tonight (12-40 shooting). At least Wright and Barea provided some punch off the bench.
Great win over a quality team!

I really can't handle games like this. But great win!! We fought tooth and nail through a bad offensive game. Showed a TON of heart. Almost felt like a playoff game.

And screw off Nelson!! This dude is really pissing me off. If this continues, I want JJ's minutes increasing.

I absolutely love this kind of basketball... What's life without a little drama?

Same here. I'm actually willing to give fat Felton a chance once his suspension is gone. Nelson has been utter garbage so far.

Don't have much of a choice with Devin injured and Felton serving a suspension... But, yeah, Nelson has really regressed as the season has worn on.

Would have liked a bit more composure by Ellis the last possessions. He's a typical hot hand and tries to do too much whenever he has it going. But hard to bark after such an excellence performance.
Dirk and JJ with some vintage high screens, absolutely amazing.
Good to see our bench bring a quality road win home as well.

Even though Dirk had an off night shooting-wise, he still nailed that big three after coming back from his injury.

Nah, Nelson is fine at starting. He just needs to calm down at shooting 3's so early.

Did Jameer not get the message on what is expected of him? This isn't Orlando anymore. You're expected to play well in the tough west.
But hey, great win.
Barea has been just sensational especially considering expectations.
Wright has also been money.
Ellis is Ellis...which means he wins you games.
Bout sums it up.

Is it just me or has Wright gotten more bold inside? I see his growth in experience these past games. Nice road win to stack up against east teams.

Wright is becoming one of the better 4's in the league off the bench. You can't find too many teams that can provide that type of caliber of power forward off the bench. Some teams can't find it in their starting lineup.

Oh I won't even pay attention to standings yet. I want to climb 10 over .500. Then next step would be 20 over .500 if it can happen. By the time February hits I can finally look at standings.

What a gutsy win! Monta kept us in this game almost on his own and miraculously even got us the halftime-lead. Down the stretch, when the Mavs had to endure a few unlucky bounces and gave up momentum on occasions, they never lost focus and with the help of B.Wright, Monta and Dirk (looking just at the offensive side), JJB willed this thing home. Great win on an amazing night in the nba!

This team already oozes chemistry. You can just see the hydrogens floating off while the double bonds form.

A fine, Eastern Conferenced styled, grind it out win. Nice to see the boys win so ugly. Dirk was off, Devin was missing and Parsons was of little help scoring. Yet they toughed it out. JJB was tremendous in the forth, especially in getting the ball to Wright so he could score, even though it was clear the Wizzards were committed to stopping the lobs.
Good teams win when their stars have off nights, even on the road against a quality team. We got no offense from 3 of out best guys and still kept coming. Last year's Mavs don't win this game...they collapse when Dirk went down, if they were even still in it.
My favorite win so far this year. Can't wait for Houston.

It was an ugly game at times, but we showed good fighting spirit!
Of course there will be games where we just thrash our opponents but it's games like these where you can make a difference. Good effort, good win, now let's go on to demolish the Lakers!

Loved the 16 boards by Tyson.
When was the last time a Mavs center had that many?

The last time a Mavs player (except for Tyson this season) recorded at least 16 rebounds was Dirk with 17 on 29st January 2014 against Houston.
The last time a Mavs C recorded at least 16 boards was Chris Kaman with 17 on 19th November 2012 against Golden State.

Did you see his defense ?
There was a stretch....
6:07 Jameer Nelson misses 25-foot three point jumper 67-62
6:07 67-62 Paul Pierce defensive rebound
5:48 67-65 Paul Pierce makes 27-foot three point jumper (Nene Hilario assists)
5:47 Mavericks Full timeout
5:47 67-65 Bradley Beal enters the game for Garrett Temple
5:31 Jameer Nelson misses 27-foot three point jumper 67-65
5:28 67-65 Marcin Gortat defensive rebound
5:20 67-65 Paul Pierce misses 18-foot jumper
5:18 Tyson Chandler defensive rebound 67-65
5:07 Jameer Nelson traveling 67-65
4:52 67-67 John Wall makes two point shot
Where Nelson lost the ball on offense, and then Wall just shot over him on defense. This was really painful to watch.

Not just you. He is definitely going up with more power when necessary and using the soft touch he's always had when appropriate. If he just rebounded a little bit better.

comments by Mike Marshall on Felton ~ over at Fish's site - ouch!
http://mavericks.scout.com/story/145...-be-king?s=268
"""Jameer was 51st out of 66 point guards in player efficiency rating coming into the night and that’s going to drop significantly after this five-points-on-2-of-12-shooting-with-four-turnover performance.
Again I’ll restate my position, I don’t know what he’s doing well on the basketball court.
I feel bad for putting it this way but when Felton returns in three games, I don’t know what role Jameer has on this team. I’d release him faster than you could say Michael Olowokandi for Ray Allen, Rashard Lewis, Jermaine O’Neal, Emeka Okafor, some white cheddar popcorn, a USB charger, a paperback version of "Landing On My Feet: The Kerri Strug Autobiography'' or a monster truck DVD. The breaking point was his pull-up three with 18 seconds left on the clock in the second quarter. Flatly, we were promised better. It’s been 12 games and he’s had one decent outing."""

I dont mind Nelson taking wide open threes and bricking them...happens...but yesterday he forced way too many of them. dribbling and pulling up...not catch and shot wide open. He also had way too many plain stupid TO.

yeah i'm fine with the spot up shots, sometimes you just miss them. he just has to dial back the pull ups off the dribble and try to facilitate more instead

Did anyone mention Nelson played bad in the game against Hornets? People have off games, so does Dirk, but other got to step up, and we got full of weapons in the bench, end of story.
