Stoked that Paul George is in the Slam Dunk contest, he's going to be exciting to watch.

I'm pretty excited for the dunk contest in general. Derrick Williams, Iman Shumpert, and Chase Budinger are also all really good athletes. A lot of people are upset because of the lack of star power, but I think the dunks will be more impressive this year.

Why is Demar DeRozan not in the dunk contest? He's the best dunker in the league imo.

Here's something that might throw a wrench into the plan. Kidd's ex-wife was just seen in first class headed to All Star Weekend.

http://twitter.com/#!/TrueHoop

As far as I know she still lives in their NJ house and 3 of his kids are with her. Don't know if Nets brass got her a ticket and sent her down there for a weekend vacation. But it's an intereseting development....or it could be nothing. don't even know for sure if Kidd is headed there to hobknob with the DDD.

That is random as hell.

Prevent defense from the Nets.

Who would be doing the lobbying on the Nets' part? Kris Humpheries? Do the Mavs send a Kardashian?

Wonder how many people are watching the "Raising Stars" game who just want to see Griffin and Lin. Great, they get almost no playing time. What a brain fart by the coaches (Steve Kerr?)

At least Rubio with some fancy skill.

Uh, it was by design. I'm sure from their coaches. Blake is an all-star, he's not going to risk getting hurt in this. And Lin had just played 2 B2Bs (same reason Fields didn't get much burn).

I bet Cousins wishes every game was the rookie-sophmore game.

Rubio put on a show, and Irving was on fire all night (8-8 from deep).

I understand not playing Lin because he's probably exhausted and all, but since this was more of a show game for the fans, I am pretty sure that a lot of broadcasters will be mad at the coaches for not giving him more time on the floor. He played something like 8 minutes. Not playing Griffin a bit more is even more surprising, cause people want to see him dunking and stuff. He's the perfect athlete for these type of games designed to entertain the crowd.

Wait, Budinger in the Dunk Contest tomorrow? At least something worth waiting for...

Hope the All-Star weekend is over soon.

That Monroe steal was hilarious.

At least the rook/soph game does one thing right - the players wear their team unis. I hate All-Star Jerseys. Just a chance for the league to make more money.

What was funny during the Rook/Sophmore game is that on one play, Cousins was blatantly fouled with no call and he just glared at the official. Knowing him, I was hoping there was a legit chance he'd be the first guy ever T'd up in an All-Star game.

Why should broadcasters be any more ticked off than fans paying full price for crappy games. To heck with 'em.

Nothing against Dirk, but there are better three point shooters than him (at least in practice...when it comes to shooting the go-ahead three pointer in Game 2 of the finals, though, he easily tops just about anyone).

So many unoriginal, uninspired dunks it's almost hilarious. A joke is a pretty good description of the dunk contest. So far George's reverse dunk after touching the backboard is my favorite.

There's only so much a human can do in a dunk contest lol. Its been over 20 years. All you can do now is make past dunks look better.

They should bring back Horse. But not the stupid version that ad Durant where all they did was shoot 3 pointers. Make it to where they had to be creative.... You see some guys shooting left handed from 20 feet out.... or some off the backboard off the bounce type shots.... to me that is more impressive than watching 6'6" athletes dunk a basketball.

I still think they should line them all up and play knockout.

That would be good too. You could do around the world with them. But make it challenging with some "obstacles" that distract them, such as rotating broom handles, etc. A version of Wipeout on the NBA Court.

The players wouldn't get hurt, but there has to be something that is fun about it.

And why would a guy who wasn't on our team last year be discussing Peja?....

I thought the dunk contest was fine. Not the best one ever, and not the worst. The second round was much better than the third, though.

Kevin Love winning the 3-pt contest is lolzy. Jeez.

Delonte fan of Nowitzki
Delonte West has played with some of the NBA’s best, James, Garnett, Pierce and Allen, but it didn’t take him long to appreciate playing with Dirk Nowitzki. Even though West has played with Nowitzki for less than a month in Dallas, he sees why the veteran forward belongs among the game’s elite.

“I remember LeBron talking about him,” West said, “and saying that he thought Dirk was the best player in the league and he really meant that. His skill set and the footwork and just being able to basically do what he wanted at his own pace. It’s like playing against your big brother in the garage. When game point came, you know he’s going to get it. He’s going to back you all the way down and shoot whatever shot he wants. He’s going to make it.”

West said that just before the Celtics hosted the Mavericks on Wednesday, and with 5.6 seconds left Nowitzki did exactly what West had said: He backed down Garnett and then spun and laid the ball in the basket as Bass fouled him. Nowitzki’s three-point play broke an 85-85 tie and sparked a 90-85 victory.

“It’s a fun situation to be in,” Nowitzki said. “Everybody’s looking at you and your team really depends on you, so I like to be in the position where I can make something happen.”

Nowitzki is 33, but West marvels at how hard he works.

“In training camp,” West said, “when all us older guys were struggling, icing our knees, he was coming back running line drills on his own with the training staff. That says a lot.”

At the end of each practice, the Mavs conduct a competition and ring a bell whenever someone makes 20 of 25 3-point attempts.

“He’s always around 23 or 24,” West said. “The bell rings every day.”

West worked stocking furniture during the lockout so he was glad to see the season begin.

“It told me the league minimum ain’t that bad,” West said.

I thought I'd try the all-star game this year.. I made it part of the way through the first quarter before I turned it off. It's absolutley unwatchable.

Durant is simply annoying, makes even Melo look like a team player. And east does not care anymore. Especially Dwight does not really know what to do out there.

I don't know a single one of the musical performers. I guess it is because I am a hick from a small sourthern town.
