Spurs ns. Sonics
I have a feeling that tonite is the nite the Spurs slip and lose to the Sonics. Allen will kill Bowen, unless Bowen kiks him in the head or something and he has to leave with brain damage. I really have a feeling that the Sonics will pull it of. Will the loss give us first place??

They have to lose one more unless they lose to Houston.

With the loss, we'll still be behind the Spurts in Conference record, which is the third tie breaker. If we end up with the same record, we are tied in head to head, which is the first tie breaker, we will be tied if the Spurts beat the Rockets (sans yao) on Division record, which is the 2nd tie breaker, and lose the Conference. So either the Spurs lose any two while we win out, or they lose the Rockets game and we win out.

KG is sitting out the rest of the year so that is one less possible loss.

If the Spurs are gonna slip, its will be tonights game and Orlando on Thurs. I hope Bowen kicks Ray Ray again then go off on the Spurs. Since beating the Mavs, Orlando also won against Pistons and Heat during the same stretch. The only thing is Orland will be on the second game of back2back vs. Spurs.

Ginobli is sitting out again. Horry is also out due to his father-in-law's death. That's why he missed the Mavs game too.
This could be a tricky game for the Spurs but they'll be looking for revenge after that loss in Seattle a couple weeks ago.

Maybe I'm hopelessly optimistic...or drunk..or both...but I think Seattle's going to make a fourth quarter run

How bad was that Jaric/Cassell trade for Minny in the short run. Is it in the top 10 worst trades? Clips make the playoffs, Minny enters the lottery, and they lose their above #10 pick, just horrible...

Well, Minny sucked last year too, and I have trouble believing that they'd be much better this year even with Sammy. So no, I can't justify calling it one of the top 10 worst trades, but because Jaric has been so disappointing, it definitely hasn't been a good one for them.

Minny currently has the 7th worst record. As long as they stay there or get worse, they can't get any higher than the 10th pick.
That explains why Garnett is sitting... to ensure they don't finish with a better record and subsequently lose this year's pick.

The thing is, this is the worst draft I can remember. If I owed a pick I'd want to give it up this year. If they were smart (they're not) they'd try to play themselves out of the top 10, trade KG in the offseason and rebuild.

For the life of me, I can't figure out why Garnett is so reluctant to leave Minnesota. He seems miserable in his situation, but he also doesn't seem to want to play anywhere else. He's even said that he doesn't want to sit through another rebuilding year, but if he's got half a brain he knows that's exactly where Minnesota's at right now.

Nothing is expected of KG in Minnesota other than putting up the numbers. He can just play his game. He'll always have the "I don't have anyone to help me here" excuse to hang his hat on. There's absolutely no pressure to win for him. So little of that falls on him...

What makes you think he doesn't want to leave Minnesota? I'm pretty sure he'd welcome a trade.

He's said several times that he doesn't want to leave. Of course, that could just be him trying to keep things as stable as possible with his team, but I've heard/read a whole lot of articles, interviews and what-not from insiders about how he doesn't want to leave even though he hates the situation. Granted, all of that could just be typical media babble, but still, from all accounts I know of he's pretty apprehensive about playing anywhere else and refuses to ask for a trade.

I think he has some Dirk in him. No matter how bad things get, I can't imagine Dirk demanding to be traded out of Dallas. They were both drafted by their respective franchises as kids and they're both ingrained in their communities. The stories about his locker room antics this year lead me to believe that he'd welcome a trade. He just doesn't want to pull a Marburry and act like an ass on his way out of town.

No help from the Sonics tonight. Finley and Barry really stepped up with Manu out and Bowen shut Allen down.
The Spurs catch 2 breaks with Garnett and Yao out now.
Go Orlando.

That's a little harsh isn't it? He's suffering his own statistical feats for the team. He could easily be adding to his career stats right now but he's sitting out so his team can have a better chance at snagging a solid player in the draft.

Dtown, i dont dislike kg but that has got to be the most blatant case of fitting your argument to your already conceived notions of a player i have ever seen. If ANYONE else sat out the end of the year on a bad team they would be torn a new one. Example, tracy mcgrady circa 2004.
