Playoffs GDT: Mavs @ Lakers, Game 1, 5/2/2011, 9:30pm Central (TNT)
The NBA "experts" give the Mavs no chance in this series. Apparently, they are unfamiliar with what Chuck has proclaimed.
Tonight, the Mavs send a message and kick the champ in the face. Read my sig and weep, Laker fans.

I don't know why, but I feel and big fourth quarter from Dirk and JET. I just feel JET will have more intensity after that last game we had in LA.

The Mavs were not expected to beat the Blazers. But they played relaxed, and the series was never in doubt. Since '06, they have been losing to lower seeded teams they were expected to beat. Maybe thats the key. All the pressure is on LA. Let's go steal one in LA, and make Kobe sweat!

"Unlike most Los Angeles kids, Chandler says he didn't dream of taking the court in that famed gold uniform. He dreamed of doing exactly what he'll try to do Monday night. "When you're in the backyard and you're putting up shots and you're doing the countdown, some players would imagine themselves being other players," Chandler recalled. "I would imagine I was killing the Lakers, so hopefully my dreams come true."
There you go Tyson, let's do it!!!

Tough one, but I'm really excited about the series. Wonder how many seconds Bynum is allowed to camp in the lane and how often he is going to travel without receiving any call. Don't get me wrong, he's a good player when healthy and Chandler had big problems guarding him, but nevertheless, the amount of non-calls concerning 3-second violations and travels he receives is insane.

Lets get this series started....so sick of Laker bandwagoners and Kobe's jock holders in TX...and if I see one more Laker anything while in the office, I swear im going slap them with my autographed Dirk foam finger, and keep slapping them until them see Maverick blue.

This game is critical because it is likely to be Kidd's best game of the series. After tonight, every game through game 6 is every other night.

Ref assignments for tonights game suck big time ... will come up with detailed stats some time later.
Lakers are 13-2 under their whistles and 9-0 at home. Steve Javie whistled Game 4 of the Portland series ...

Will be in attendance. Last time I attended a Steve Javie game, it did not end well.

If the Mavericks steal a game in LA, they'll likely win the series. TOnite could very well be that night if we get defense from Matrix and DeSean, as well as good play from Haywood and Terry off the bench

Mavs win game 1 and the series in 6.
Dirk scores 25 and grabs 9 boards.
TC grabs another 14.
Wood gets 8 boards and 10 pts.
Bynum gets annoyed because he is the one who gets in early foul trouble.
Mavs 94
Lakers 91
"Experts" declare Lakers will still win the series in 5.

RefStats:
All games (stats from the home teams perspective):
Steve Javie: +4.96 EffDiff; +1.19 FTA pp100; -1.03 PF pp100; 34-19 W-L
Bob Delaney: +3.21 EffDiff; +1.68 FTA pp100; -1.35 PF pp100; 43-25 W-L
Michael Smith: +4.29 EffDiff; +2.35 FTA pp100; -0.70 PF pp100; 48-19 W-L
Home Teams have won 60.41% of the games this season. Under Javie home teams have won 64.15%, under Delaney 63.24%, under Smith 71.64% ( )
Lakers games (stats from the Lakers perspective):
Steve Javie: +13.14 EffDiff; +0.22 FTA pp100; -3.34 PF pp100; 5-0 W-L
Bob Delaney: +15.89 EffDiff; +5.10 FTA pp100; -1.70 PF pp100; 3-1 W-L ( 2-0 at home)
Michael Smith: +15.04 EffDiff; -5.24 FTA pp100; +3.05 PF pp100; 3-2 W-L ( 2-0 at home)
Mavs games (stats from the Mavs perspective):
Steve Javie: -2.29 EffDiff; -3.43 FTA pp100; -0.57 PF pp100; 1-3 W-L ( 0-2 on the road)
Bob Delaney: +2.29 EffDiff; -2.47 FTA pp100; +0.52 PF pp100; 4-2 W-L ( 2-0 on the road)
Michael Smith hasn't officiated any Mavs games so far.
Doesn't look too promising ... All 3 are in the Top6 of Refs (in terms of Efficiency Differential) that whistled at least 4 games of the Lakers. All Mavs games officiated by Steve Javie have been against Western Conference Playoff Teams, including the Game 4 L vs. Portland.
On other news: Betting market favors the Mavericks Spread (+6) so far.
