Personally, I am very opposed to the insanity plea. I feel that individuals who resort to the insanity plea (if they are, in fact, clinically-insane) are just as dangerous over the course of their lifetime as criminals who are sane. Depending on the crime, of course, I have zero problem with locking away a potential repeat-murderer for the rest of his/her life. To me, the protection of the collective general public is far more important than the protection of the rights of that individual.

Oops, I left that thought out of my first post.

I assume there is some sort of medical opinion that will be made on the boy's mental health. If he is labeled clinically-insane, then a hospital. If he is not, then prison.
