Or anyone, next draft shapes up to be a legendary one. So much talent, it's ridiculous. If we can't figure out, or figure out but still not make the playoffs, we can nab a difference maker. I mean, probably, you never know, but in next draft your chances would be pretty good.

So, two GDTs with Spiderman pics and two GDTs without... didn't seem to make a lick of difference.

Well the good news is that Barnes has been the best player on the team so far. He is a nice piece to fit next to our high draft pick next season.

Sure, but the best player of a really bad team (so far). Also, it's been four games, and he played excellent in the first two, played like crap in the third, and was very mediocre last night. 14 points on 13 shots. He cannot drive, cannot get to the line, and an inconsistent shooter. I understand that you hate my opinion, but crowning him as a "good piece for summer" after four games, two of which he was really bad/mediocre, is such a reactionary stance.

I like how painting Barnes in a positive light after 4 games is a "reactionary stance" but painting him in a negative light after 4 games isn't... That's a neat trick!

BM is very touchy with Barnes and has a vendetta against him. I don't bother replying anymore.

I've never understood why so many people on this site have "pet players" that they feel the need to glorify or demonize... Like, objectivity just goes out the window whenever Player X enters the conversation.

Barnes has a new role on a new team -- anybody who thinks they have his season "figured out" is kidding themselves.

We all knew who HB was coming in. A 24 year old player with athleticism, size, strength, work ethic, experience, and a winning mentality. No one here was under any illusion he was suddenly going to become James Harden.

But that's exactly why I mention it. Everybody was so worried about Barnes when they should be worried about everyone else on the team.

Frankly, I'm far more concerned about Dirk than Barnes right now...

I don't do such thing, I stated numerous times that I base my opinion on the entirety of his four-year career, as well as his skills, and how they project in an increased role (not well).

I don't think I did that either (if it was directed at me). What I did, was putting a "cap" on Barnes, as someone who cannot become a star. This is where that argument with DevinHarriswillstart started. Saying that I think he can't become a star because of apparent skill limiations is not "figuring out" where he will be in a season's time.

I have no idea what he'll average and on what efficiency. Even an 18/6/2 on 56%TS season would not shock me, where he is our best player, and I wouldn't be shocked if he had a 15/6/2 on 52%TS kind of season, and couldn't be a true impact player for us.

I don't know, and I never said that I have any idea, what I said is that I don't think that he has any chance of becoming a star player, because he does not have the handles, passing, penetration and foul drawing skills that perimeter stars need to possess. That's all I was saying, and I do think that my argument is sound, as tough it may be to contemplate from an emotional standpoint.

Yeah, I think he is signed for like four more years (probably three after this). I'm sure they would let him go for a Towns+lottery pick package, or maybe all of Boston's combined draft picks, but other than a crazy offer like that, he can't be had for a team like us that has no assets.

While I'll say that it's obviously only four games in.... damn, it's hard to be anything but pessimistic about this season. Barnes has been fantastic and JJ has been very good, but other than that I'm not impressed with anyone on this roster. Dirk is obviously going to be Dirk at some point this season, but I wouldn't lose sleep over any of the rest of these guys.

What you're witnessing here is the downside of youth... Our roster turnover this offseason was about on par with the last several years, but we now have younger players trying to learn on the fly instead of veterans who can step into a new role quicker. "Be ready" is Rick Carlisle's motto. Experience definitely helps in that department.

I know Dirk said he didn't want any part in a rebuild, but this is a rebuild. Be patient. Even the veterans have to adapt to playing with inexperienced players. This will all come together eventually (although obviously not in the form of a contender).

You do understand the jest of that comment.....right???

The main point is that our draft pick will most likely increase in value as the year progresses and who knows if Cuban would bite on an offer for a washed up veteran. The comment about Davis was merely stating there is no way we trade the pick this year under any circumstance. Perhaps if I would have said LeBron or Curry instead of Davis the point would have been more clear.
