Question Lets get Andre Iguodala from the 76ers!!

Is there any chance of us getting Andre Iguodala?!! This is Iggy's contract year and they asked him to sign a contract extension during the summer and he said no. The 76ers may want to trade him because while they can than to see him walk away for nothing. Think about it we've always needed an unselfish shooting guard who was athletic, could score and defend and Iggy is a perfect example of this. I mean if we traded Mo ager. Devean george, the rights to reyshawn terry and cash for him that would be great. Our core isn't hurt and we finally get rid of our weakness at the SG. And Iggy would probably be so happy that he's on a winning team that it may even rejuvenate him even more. This wold be a great trade if we could do it.Anybody agree?, just thinking of this makes giddy with joy but I wonder if it could ever happen. Any thoughts?

Hmmm. Depends on what the Sixers are willing to offer in free agency. If they are going to try to get away with a lowball offer, they will risk losing him for nothing. In that case, you are right, they would be better off getting something rather than nothing.

But, they may be trying to cut costs, and not want to take back salary obligations.

it's amazing how some people expect to get certain players by trading utter garbage.

It depends on the Sixers roster. There is a steady precedent established by the Mavericks on giving up an All-Star player (not that Iggy is necessarily an All-Star player, but still) and getting way better as a result. Do NOT think that this went unnoticed by the rest of the league. If you've got a guy on your roster who might do a little better when the other guy is gone...well, you think outside the box.

Now, where the Mavs went wrong is that they didn't deal Nash before his contract ran out. I would applaud the Sixers on being ahead of the curve. Imagine if your team got better by subtraction, PLUS you added something in trade! WOW!

You do realize that he'll still only be a restricted FA this summer...or that they could actually get something of value in a sign and trade. All due respect, this is a ridiculous thread.

But they could still get rid of him, RFA or no. I think they should consider ways of getting better in trade. They could get better by just losing him, but that has already been done. They would get style points if they traded him for something.

I don't know that I'd consider Ager, George and cash "something". Matter of fact I know I wouldn't.

PHX got Diaw and two no. 1's for Joe Johnson. That the kind of package Philly will, and should, be looking for.

It's a different league these days. Remember when you said that expiring contracts weren't worth what they used to be? Well...you know...

But of course, that doesn't apply to Iggy. The Sixers should trade him for all that he is worth, if they don't plan on re-signing him.

Or, they could try the Dallas method and get better by subtraction. I'm sure there is someone in Philly--I can't say who, but I'm sure there is someone--who is bound to be better without Iggy hogging the ball.

That's what funny about these trades. You think you need to get to talent back, on the surface. But then you figure out that all you needed to do, really, was get the ball in the hands of your playmakers.

Why waste our time on Iggy? Let's get Dwight Howard instead!!! Or maybe even LeBron!

Um, did you read what dirno said (or pay attention to the actual trade when it happened)?

Phoenix got 2 number 1's and Boris Diaw.

Atlanta got Joe Johnson.

It was not Diaw for Johnson+2 first rounders.

Again, all due respect but you're confused. Joe Johnson is Iggy in this scenario and yes, he and Igudola were comparable players going into restricted free agency.

Also the Suns didn't trade Johnson and two first rounders, they received two first rounders.

Gasol was a salary dump. It makes no sense to dump a player making $3MM a year. The Sixers are only trading Igudola for young players with potential or picks from a bad team. Otherwise they may as well let him walk.
