Bertans/10 for Capela/15? Yes please!
Bertans also only has one full year guaranteed. He can be waived after this coming year for 11mill in savings (like Suns saved 15mill with CP3).

With the second salary cap apron, teams are going to be desperate for savings, so you're getting me thinking twice about that trade.

Leave Collins and Ayton alone.

I have a gut feeling Cuban is primarily focused on Turner.
Obviously 10 wont get it done so I'm wondering if Hardy is being discussed in some of the trade talks for star caliber players including Turner.

Would 10/Hardy/Bertans for Turner/26/55 interest anyone?

Not me. He misses too many games. You'd be making the trade for a good player who is likely to miss 20- 40 games.

Wouldn't give up Hardy for Turner.

Lively seems too raw to pick at #10, and TJD seems to old to pick at #10... hoping for a small trade down...

Well there are other players I'd prefer over Collins but the 15th pick is not much different than the 10th if you are looking at BPA and not need which Mavs should be doing. The reason I would go for collins is he produces and upgrades team athleticism. He upgrades the roster and Mavs as long KI is back aren't that far off. He was 20/10 player who shot 40% from 3. He is a really good rim runner and slasher. He is only 25 so don't see why a he cannot get back similar to that level in new change of scenery. So sometimes it is the fit and Hawks began using him much differently after acquiring Capela. Even as a small ball center, he is quite the upgrade over Powell. Mavs want to compete now so getting basically a 2 for 1 deal gives them assets. You get a productive vet and still have a solid draft pick. I remember all the negativity when Dinwiddie was obtained and he turned out to be quite good.

IMO, wood is an OK defender in the paint. It's the switches and help defense that Kidd wants. Collins is probably better periemter defender. I'd like to have both.

Utah 16/28 probably gets you Lively AND TJD

They?re motivated too. They could get B2B picks and get their top two. Plus they literally have too many FRPs after the Gobert trade so they sill need to trade some or clear up a lot of roster spots.

I'd personally do Leonard/TJD in that scenario.

We so badly need rebounding, and that pair fixes the problem instantly.

Problem is Ainge. Guy is too shrewd with trades.

I'm interested in Turner but not for Hardy.

My only scare with Hardy is they wait to trade him when his value is lower than it is now.

If you can fix your issues with two players, then you absolutely consider that. As has been mentioned, Lively/TJD or Leonard/TJD or name two players you like at 16/28 can go a long way to helping fix needs.

This is a deep draft in terms of usable talent. Not a lot of star talent, but rotation players can be had through the early 30s if scouted right.

Lots of reasons to get two.

1) We have tons of needs and very few assets
We have three guys on contract over 6'7": Bertans, Kleber, and McGee. Powell may be back, but that doesn't make me feel much better about the roster. We essentially need starters at two different positions and some quality backups.

2) We have lots of roster spots to fill
We have only eight guys on the roster as of now--roughly half of our roster.

McGee/???/???
Kleber/Bertans/???
THJ/Bullock/Green
Hardy/???/???
Luka/???/???

UFA: Kyrie (I assume he will be back), Wood (nope!), Powell (I assume a min deal), Morris, Frank, Pinson, Holiday (not a bad min investment)

3) The second tax apron is going to be hell. Assuming we re-sign Kyrie, we have two max contracts taking up over 60% of our cap. We're going to be in cap hell with or without good players and a good draft/good development is the only way to mitigate that. Assuming we hit the second apron, we won't even have MLE to use. Getting bargains is the only way to build a quality team that will last. Even the Warriors ownership who have been willing to pay hundreds of millions in tax are suddenly concerned because the second apron

Tax apron:
Essentially no one big can be claimed off waivers
No more MLE to sign talent
No more cash can be sent out in trades
Can lose draft picks if repeated

From Jake Fischer (who I still don't believe is very reliable) but the next week will be flooded with rumors...

In Atlanta, the Hawks will continue to explore trade scenarios for Collins. That has so far included preliminary talks with Dallas about swapping Collins and the No. 15 pick in the draft with the Mavericks for the No. 10 pick and Dāvis Bertāns. Those talks did not develop very far, sources said, and Dallas indicated it would be more willing to consider that deal if Hawks center Clint Capela was the returning player from Atlanta.

Good on the Mavs wanting Capela instead if true.

More I think about it, the more I'm out on Hendricks and the more in I am in on Miller and Lively.

Lively is the Gobert/Tyson Chandler starter kit. Limited role (rebound, box out, block shots, set screens, catch oops) means he should be successful in years 1-2. He's already bulked up a lot and has the frame for more. Legit 7'1" with a 7'7" wingspan. Was hitting threes in practice. His ability to get oops like Powell wasn't shown off with NCAA spacing, but he could average 20ppg with Luka just on oops. He was well-coached and he's a fast learner. Match him up with Tyson and he could be a difference-maker.

Miller? I think people are sleeping on him. Legitimate 6'10" with shoes. 7'2" wingspan. Crazy rebounding numbers against higher competition than Lively (and way higher than Hendricks). He's got MPJ/Aaron Gordon written all over him with his ability to switch and score from anywhere.

Hendricks just seems like fools gold to me. It's subjective admittedly but his timing doesn't seem great on defense/shotblocking and he'll struggle at the next level with his size/athleticism if the timing isn't there. Lots of missed defensive possessions which is what got Wood benched. His stats look good, but they didn't play a lot of crazy talent.

I agree to an extent but it?s wishful thinking believing you will hit on two 1st rounders. If I?m trading I need some veterans and a pick.

Yeah, we can't talk about the new CBA restrictions then take on Collins willy nilly.

Bertans/10 for Collins/15 is nowhere near a fair trade. We've be taking on that contract AND giving them 10? Hell no.

And that finger situation just worries the crap out of me. He hasn't been the same since he broke it over a year ago and obviously it was never surgically repaired for some reason (or the surgery didn't work).

10 for 21/22
10 for 16/28
10 for 26/29/32/55

The last one wouldn't do much for us unless the plan is to go young and start building around Luka.

16/28 makes sense to me because that is about the only scenario to trade back and pick up Lively if no other players are included.
I'm not so sure Lively will be there at 16 though.

Mavs could structure deal so they take Bilal Coulibaly at #10 and make trade to Utah contingent on Lively being there at 16.

Rumors of Beal possibly going to Phoenix. Like...with what damn assets do they have to pull that off? I'm guessing Ayton and whatever picks they have left?

I think Beals contract means that they just want him gone.

Very few teams want Beal at 57mill in 2026-2027

Fewer have the assets to match contracts AND provide positive assets in addition so he?s going to be cheap. Decent contracts and maybe one FRp

Would have to assume CP3 and Ayton. But seriously what picks do they have left that would be desirable? That?s what sucks about Beal having a no trade clause. Washington can?t even take the best offer in the table. It?s basically wherever Beal says he wants to go. How much help does KD need to win?

I assume Miami gives up Herro. What does their pick situation look like?

The Heat?s offer to the Wizards is believed to be built around the expiring contract of guard Kyle Lowry and could also include either Duncan Robinson or Victor Oladipo to help fulfill the salary-cap matching component of the deal. The Heat is also expected to include at least one first-round pick in its package. ? via Miami Herald

The Heat has this year?s first-round pick at No. 18 and either its 2028 or 2029 first-round pick currently available to trade. The Heat would have its first-round selections from this year, 2028 and 2030 available to deal if it waits until after Thursday?s NBA Draft to complete the trade, as it would pick for the Wizards at No. 18 in this scenario. ? via Miami Herald

Chris Haynes: Phoenix can offer a trade package of Deandre Ayton and Landry Shamet to Washington for Bradley Beal, but it?s believed a Chris Paul, Shamet deal is what it would take if Beal chose to force his way to the Suns via his no-trade clause, league sources tell @NBAonTNT, @BleacherReport ? via Twitter ChrisBHaynes

While league sources say Chris Paul?s team-friendly contract will be at the heart of any Phoenix offer, it?s unclear how competitive the Suns can get with their bid to win the Beal Sweepstakes after all the draft capital they surrendered to acquire Kevin Durant in February. The cap relief available by acquiring Paul, who can be waived at a savings of $15 million as long as he is released by June 28, is the most attractive asset that Phoenix can pitch along with second-round draft compensation. ? via Marc Stein @ marcstein.substack.com

So PHX really has nothing to offer for Beal. At least Miami can throw some picks their way. Hard for Washington to really start a rebuild if they don?t get 1st round picks out of the deal.

Which is why Kyrie at 50 mil a year is a big risk.

And honestly, if Phx wants a guy that misses 30-40 games a year with no depth, then so be it.

The Pacers, Raptors, and Mavs could engage in a three-team deal that would send OG Anunoby to Indiana, multiple first-round picks that would include the No. 7 overall pick to Toronto, and Buddy Hield to Dallas.

Toronto is actively exploring options to move up in the draft.

Yeah, here we go with the click bait rumors. Even the Hawks one is weak...like, hey, here is Collins, nope we want Capela..nope...k bye.

There are 100 Mavs might do it deals that will be "reported" by next Thursday.

I mean, I would like Hield over THJ any day, but a guy with 6k twitter followers who I've never heard of. K.

Beal trade should be illegal

Paul, Shamet and 2nd round picks? And the CEO son connection smh

This doesn?t put Suns over imo but they literally got him for nothing. I know it?s because of the 57m but damn

BREAKING: The Washington Wizards are finalizing a trade to send All-Star G Bradley Beal to the Phoenix Suns, sources tell ESPN. Beal?s waiving his no-trade to form a new Big 3 with Devin Booker and Kevin Durant. Teams are still working thru framework, but Beal is headed to Suns.

Poor deal for Washington. Giving Beal the no trade clause fucked them. Hard to rebuild when all you net is some 2nd round picks for the face of your franchise. I understand his contract made it difficult to move him, but you think Beal would have wanted to do Washington a solid after they gave him that deal and been open to Miami since they reportedly were offering up 1st round picks. Washington was loyal to Beal and he left them with nothing in return. Got his bag and left.

Yeah I don't want to hear shit about this new CBA when Phx has three 50 mil guys and a 33 mil Ayton.

Does this depth chart beat the Nuggets or Heat if they can work a similar deal to get Lillard?

Ayton/???/???
Durant/Bazley/???
Booker/???/???
Beal/???/???
Payne/???/???

They can get some sweetheart/insider deals to fill out the roster, but they will be above the second tax apron meaning they will even lose the MLE so they're damn close to filling out the rest of the roster with min guys.

They also HAVE to be shopping Ayton after his horrible no-show in the playoffs and with so many spots to fill. Then I wonder who will rebound for them or if they'll be the 2022-2023 Mavs with all the scoring and no defense/rebounding. Between that and the inevitable Beal injuries/inefficiencies and I'm not super scared of the Suns.
