If the reports are correct the Chicago Bulls have just put themselves in an even bigger hole. This is a horrible trade for them. Let us analyzethis trade shall we:
1. Jalen Rose vs Ron Artest
Min.......pts.......RB.....FG%....A....ST.....BL.. ....Age
Rose 36.5 .....18.5.....4.7....44.4...3.7....85....55......2 9
Artest 30.5 .....15.6.....4.9...43.3...2.9....2.78...85......2 2
The two largest pieces to this trade are pretty close to a wash in my opinion. Rose better on offense at 3 more points a game, rebounds and FG% equal, one more assist for Rose, 2 more steals a game shows the tough D Artest plays.
The kicker is Rose is 29. His game has peaked and he is playing under a maxed out contract. Artest only 22 is playing on a rookie contract. There is still lots of room for Artest to get better. Ask yourself this, who would you rather have in 2 years?
Part 2 of trade:
Min.....pts........rb......fg%......a.......st.... .bl.....age
Best (Bulls) 21.7...6.9.......1.6......43.9.....4.0.....1.3.... .14.....29
Mercer(Ind) 37.6...16.8......3.9......39.9....3.0.......75.... .25.....25
Miller(Ind) 29.....12.7......8.4......46.0...2.1.......1.08... 8.......25
Ok this is a no brainer. Two younger better players or a guy who has peaked. They also get a top 7/8 center in this league who is still improving. No he is no Shaq stopper who is but how many teams would Miller start for at Center.
Part 3 of trade:
Fodder, Richardson to Bulls, Ollie to Pacers, 2nd rounder
Either one of three things has happened.
1. The Bulls have made or horrendous trade. Throw a parade for the Pacer's GM
2. I am missing something
3. The media reported a story that has not or will not happen
