OK People....the deadline is now one day away. Let's hear those rumors. Please provide links when you can. If you are speculating, just say so in the post. Let's get some chatter going here.
The Karl Malone for Howard + rumors are still circulating. I've heard Vecsey say it is bunk. I've heard Dan Patrick on the radio say it was heating up. Who knows? It's fun to think about a lineup with Nash, Dirk, Finley, Malone and Najera or other combos though. If the Mavs were to do this deal, I think the Lakers would be more than just a little worried.
Bring on the rumors!

Here are some more trades being mentioned for Marbury:
G.S. sends Fortson and Larry Hughes for Marbury.
Denver sends LaFrenz and VanExel for Marbury and big Jake.

Grabbed these off LMF:
Hi Dallas fans. In the Chicago post game show, it was reported Marcus Fizer and Greg Anthony MAY go to Dallas tomorrow. Najera is one of the names throwing around.
Personally I'd rather have Najera off the bench than Fizer, who has been rather inconsistent on a crappy team.
Also..
According to NBA beat, if Denver can move Van exel, deal that send Camby to Dal, Howard to NY with Den as the third team involved has been discussed. Also, Finely is being shopped at the right price.

Wow, those are both very interesting trades. Fizer is a stud, despite his poor performance in Chicago. There is no doubt that he's a better player than Najera. Greg Anthony could be the third point guard the Mavs have been chasing all year. Both players would do well here in Dallas. The question here is what do the Mavs have to give up. There has to be something more to that rumor than a straight up deal with Chicago. Even Krause isn't stupid enough to trade a guy with Fizer's talent away for nothing.
I like Camby a lot. However, I don't want to give up much to get him. He'd be an impact player on this team in that he can run the floor, rebound and block a few shots for us. He'd be a much better player in Nelsons system than Howard would be. His health is always a question, but if the Mavs doctors give him a clean bill of health, then I'll trust them. Sometimes you can pick up some real bargains on guys who have a history of health problems.

Honestly there's not much going on that isn't covered to death by all the internet magazines. The Chicago/Indiana deal killed about 10-12 deals that I've heard of.

Here's the latest on the Camby trade. From ESPN Insider
God help us. This is what we've come to.
Knicks president Scott Layden and Mavs owner Mark Cuban stayed up late Wednesday night discussing a trade involving two of the most underachieving big men in the NBA. Of course, Cuban left Layden at the alter when he learned that Marcus Camby might have a problem with injuries.
Word leaked Wednesday night that the Knicks and Mavs were talking about a mega-deal that would send Juwan Howard to the Knicks in return for Camby, Shandon Anderson and Charlie Ward. However, by late Wednesday night those talks had stalled, according to the Newark Star Ledger.
The Mavs, apparently, had misgivings about Camby's ability to return from his torn right hip muscle in time to help a team that has title aspirations. "That was the main issue -- we can't be sure about Marcus' health," a Mavs official told the Star Ledger. Knicks coach Don Chaney remained wary that the Knicks could pull off a last-minute trade. "He [Layden] hasn't given me any indication there's a doable deal out there," Chaney said.
The trade talks, which several NBA executives confirmed to Insider Wednesday night, were the first real insight into the direction Layden may be taking the Knicks: the dreaded "R"-word -- rebuilding. Though Howard's contract resembles Charles Barkley at a Vegas buffet, his deal is up after next season. By moving dead weight like Anderson and Ward, the Knicks would free up considerable cap space. However, considerable is all relative when talking about the Knicks. They would still have to clear another roughly $20 million just to get under the cap by the summer.
Why would Dallas do such a thing? Its defense is terrible and Camby and Anderson would both be upgrades. Furthermore, the Mavs are still looking for a big man to anchor their team. Obviously, Howard isn't getting it done and an injured Camby is still worth more than a healthy Shawn Bradley.
Cuban and coach Don Nelson told the Dallas Morning News Wednesday night that their chances of making a trade were "slim". Of course, last year at this time Cuban gave the Mavs a one-percent chance of making a deal -- and then landed Howard in one of last year's blockbusters.

The latest on Van Exel. Looks like he's got it down to one team: (from Insider)
Nick Van Exel killed a trade to the Celtics Wednesday. Did he cook his own goose in the process?
Van Exel admitted to the Denver Post Wednesday night that his trade possibilities had shrunk to one. While he did not name the team, it is widely believed to be the T-Wolves, who would swap the injured Terrell Brandon in return for Van Exel.
"There is one team out there that they've got something in the works with, but it's all on [Nuggets general manager] Kiki [Vandeweghe]," Van Exel said.
However, T-Wolves GM Kevin McHale has maintained for some time that the Wolves will likely stand pat.
Van Exel might not be the only point guard in the running to replace Brandon. The Chicago Tribune reported today that the Bulls may send Greg Anthony to Minnesota for center Dean Garrett.

Here's a juicy one... The Heat are trying to stir up some interest in Brian Grant. Apparently they may be willing to take on Howard in return.
The Nuggets and Heat have also been attached to talks with the Mavs. However, indications are that the Nuggets are unlikely to ship out Raef LaFrentz, who Dallas covets.
More likely, the Heat have shopped forward Brian Grant around a bit. Would Cuban take Grant and a bunch of cap filler (read Anthony Carter and LaPhonso Ellis) to land Howard? It would allow them to clear lots of cap room in 2003 and may actually boost the team's chances this year given Grant's lackluster performance.
I've always really like LaPhonso Ellis.

If you thought that last one was interesting, wait until you hear this one: (from bskball)
02/21- COULD DALLAS SHOCK THE WORLD?- Could the Mavs be the team that nets LaFrentz? Rumors have surfaced that suggest the Maverick may be the team that helps get Nick Van Exel moved and sends some interesting players through the league. Mark Cuban, the creator of the 4 team deal, is said to be up to his old tricks, but this time his cash and draft picks are staying in Dallas and he's trying to re-tool his front line, namely at the center position. This morning sources close to the Mavs and Nuggets dropped that the Nuggets and Mavs were working a possible deal that could send Shawn Bradley to the Nuggets, and return LaFrentz and company to Dallas. Its unclear who the company are, or how serious the talks are, but it does seem Dallas may be the late entry into the trade race, and history has shown Mark and Nellie are not afraid to trigger a solid deal if its out there.
