A good move, at least if it's not considered to be THE answer to Caron's season-ending knee injury.

Nice, seems there was maybe an under the table thing to push the Peja thing through ....NOW. Then moving Ajinca out clears a roster spot for Peja.

I'll be happy to add another ex-Mavs-killer alongside Chandler and Marion...

Not as long as we still have Caron Butler's expiring contract on hand...
Although this does make the need for a 3 a little less pressing, maybe even gives us a bit of leverage when making trade since we're no longer bargaining from a position of desperation.
Hell, now that we have a warm body filling in for Caron, his production could be replaced at another position - we could go after a PG or SG if we wanted to (especially if there are any doubts in Roddy's health or Kidd's legs come playoff time...)

I'm inclined to think that this all but insures that Dallas will not be taking a major financial risk to bring in someone like Jax. And as others have mentioned (UD), they're now in a good position to look for trades involving positions other than SF.

I still think you look at SF but you do get pickier. You can be more pushy for the likes of Prince. Dirk/Marion/Peja won't roll as a forward rotation though.
Backup PG would be a good target too.

Yep, the throw in to Tyson deal is gone for nothing, maybe for Peja minus the 15 mill in a way. I think dealing from a position of strength, center for a needed spot was a good move. Now with a brand spanking new 1.5 exception in pocket, we can find a cost cutting team to dump someone.

Don't we need to first find a bunch of horcruxes?

Chandler - check
Peja - check
Next step for the Dallas Mavhornets is Butler+Roddy for CPee3

A decent move. You could do a lot worse filling a nearly vacant position in the middle of the season than Peja/Sasha. Yugoslavia representin!

We still need a consistent scoring guard....a starting wing (Roddy) or point...and a backup PG because Kidd is terribly inconsistent offensively and playing too many minutes.
I would have rather had Sasha over Peja, but having them both over Ajinca is so Ohh La La

Is Sacramento shopping Landry he doesn't seem happy there.

They are shopping him.
Apparently you can have him for a 1st and $3 million
This tweet gave me a chuckle, With the signing of Peja, the Mavs are a lock to win the 2004 NBA Finals

The Blazers could have Landry for a first-round pick and $3 million in cash. But with Marcus Camby expected back in a mere three weeks, we doubt the Blazers would pull the trigger on that. Landry is a borderline NBA starter that doesn't have a true position.

We talked about it on Monday's MOR, I dig Landry but probably not for that price-tag. The 1st seems like a wash because because he can easily leave. I see a Bass-like approach to his game and I can easily see a Bass-like approach with his departure.

Landry's fine, if what you need him for is 15-20 scrappy minutes per game. This team does have a need for a "truer" back-up Pf than Marion imho. Someone more physical. I still think SAC is the fall back option if all else fails. Landry/Casspi and/or Udrih. Udrih is actually having a solid year and we couldn't expect to do much better at PG. Landry is having a down year but it may be a function of Westphal's strange rotations and the lunatics running the asylum there.

Interesting that ESPN is reporting its sources said the Mavs got permission from the Raptors last week to speak with Peja's agent.....so no one had a report about that?

I read that as Stein now found out that they had been working on it for a week. Not that he's been sitting on that for a week.
If that's a case, that further cements the point that they do a really good job of keeping their information in-house and stuff usually comes out of left field.

As much as I love information and absolutely live for trade rumors, we've seen just how devastating public trade talk can be with the media circus that the Car-melodrama has been.
As painful as it is as an eager Mavs fan, the Mavs are as active as anyone in the league at procuring talent-- we just dont hear about it too often and the stuff we do hear, usually is thrown out to throw us off the case. Often times the very fact that a deal has gotten media attention is the kiss of death for it ever going down. Even if media attention doesnt kill deals, it certainly makes the hard work more complicated.

We're going to need to take these from NOLA.

Was my comment in the DB.com chat against the Hornets some months ago. That particular poster made it his sig after we came back and won that game.
If Peja can just hit the open threes he gets, then he will be a solid addition. I'm still fearful that his defense might hurt us but at this point we need offense badly.

I'd be fairly happy if we sign Peja. Great 3-pt shooter although he's getting old but I think he could do the job. Get Peja and Iggy and the championship's ours.

I'm sure you've heard it is going to be ajinca.. Kinda cool that the mavs have been telling his agent that they would keep him on but try to find a home for him, he must have epxected it, but hoped it wouldn't happen.
Maybe he can get some time.

Peja sounds like a solid absolutely no risk pickup. It's not like ajinca was ever going to see the court.
