Guys just have to work out spacing. It really looked like the spacing was exaggerated and there were still moments when it looked like D-league with guys out of position, grouped up too closely or the player with the ball didn't know where his teammates were. I assume that that will be a learning experience as they learn to play together better. I also assume that that is why Dirk was out of position for rebounding most of the time-- because he was higher at the elbow than usual and also lingered there longer to let his teammates know where he'd be. I also chalk that up to why Mekel was actually the more accurate passer-- because he's played with the team longer and thus was more comfortable playing.
This team is going to be rough for a good 15-30 games because the guys are learning. We may be offensively gifted, but we'll actually be worse than our actual performance because guys are overthinking while they play instead of just playing to their instincts. |
