Par for course...
Feb. 2018 -- Ruptured Achilles
April 2019 -- Torn left quad
August 2019 -- Torn ACL
The odds of additional leg injuries doubles after an achilles tear (often due to overcompensation) and keeps doubling with each additional injury... This is likely Kevin Durant’s future as well.

[Wojnarowski] Sources: Dwight Howard surrendered nearly $2.6M of his $5.6M guaranteed salary to Memphis in buyout. He can earn $2.6M on his vet minimum deal with Lakers -- if he survives on roster past early January. Ideal outcome for Grizzlies, who never intended to bring Howard to camp.

long summer off-season filler...
Eddie Sefko@ESefko
Notable from ESPN's summer predictions re: team most likely to turn things around:
1. Lakers: 95 points (42.4% 1st-place votes)
2. Pelicans: 72 points (21.2%)
3. Clippers: 43 points (18.2%)
4. Mavericks: 33 points (6.1%)
Also, Luka Doncic the top choice to be a 1st-time all-star

Probably benefits the teams to have verified ages.
Seems goofier to pretend that Chris Paul is 6.3, than to acknowledge that he's 5.11.

The pretense is indeed goofy. Minnesota was not suddenly going to move Garnett to center, because they found out he was actually taller than advertised.

I feel like Zion's style of play is going to lead to an injury-plagued career.

Maybe? He looks a lot like Barkley at age 19/20, who also came into the NBA north of 280, and south of 6.5.
But it's Williamson's weight (285? on a marginal 6.6 frame) that is going to make him prone to back and knee injuries, I think. He's 19 and already has a history of knee ailments.
Barkley was a fun-to-watch bull in a china shop too his first few years in the league, but he wasn't an MVP until he got his body into shape (240s) in Phoenix.
Maybe Williamson will be the next Barkley, or maybe he'll be the next Oliver Miller and eat himself out of the league.

Sir Charles concurs...
he doesn't look fat to me either, but every extra pound takes its toll on knees and hips and ankles, etc.

If it gets him to stop chucking 7 or 8 three's a game it might actually make him a better player. It's hilarious to me that it's designated as his "shooting hand". I wasn't aware of him having one of those.

Man I felt like the summer went relatively quick, but last week or so I have been starting to count days. Can't wait for the opener...

Billy Donovan is by far and away coach of the year so far. Thunder are a real miracle story and Paul fully reversing a poor recent reputation.
