Warriors (5-5) at Mavs (6-5) 11/19/12 7pm CST
I didn't want to create this GDT with my marred record, but the game is a scant 6 hours away. Similar records, similar floundering. Mavs are just killer at home (4-1) and the Warriors are only average on the road (3-3).
Warriors 26th in the league in defensive FG%
Mavericks 21st in the league in defensive FG%
Dallas 3rd in 3pt FG%
Warriors 26th in 3pt FG%
Dallas 1st in 3pt defense
Golden State 11th in 3pt defense
Golden State is 11th in rebound differential.
Dallas is 24th
Dallas at home 51% FG, 44% from three, 13TOs
Warriors on the road 44% FG, 26% from three, 16TOs
Two bad defenses collide. One scores well inside but has no outside game. The other is balanced but very strong on the perimeter. We're going to have to up our inside game for rebounding and interior defense where they have the advantage and use our enormous advantage shooting threes to space the floor. Brand will hopefully match up well against Landry. Kaman and James will have to play hard for boards against David Lee. Wright may have a rough time against the bulky, powerful, hard-rebounding front line of the Warriors.
Stats to watch: TOs, RebDiff, 3pt%

Golden State is actually 23rd in offensive efficiency (Klay Thompson and Stephen Curry have started the year terribly) and 15th in defensive efficiency.

That's crazy that Dallas is first in 3-pt defense despite that Wizards game (I know it's only one game, but one game is a lot when you've only played 11).

Outside of our Mavs, the Warriors are probably my favorite team to watch. They're probably one piece away from becoming really good, but for now they're just an above average team. The development of Harrison Barnes and Bogut's recovery is crucial for them. For tonight, we're gunna have to really try to force Steph and Klay into tough shots. And we def have to box out David Lee and Ezeli. Also Jarret Jack off the bench is someone to look out for, and Landry is a nightmare to guard in the paint.

I suppose that is the advantage of having a quick, young back court. Still kinda shocking. Also 11th in fg% defense.

OK, the team looks they have some life again. I'd like to see Wright in this game, I think he'd play well vs the Dubs.

I actually like that Jones-Roddy-Carter-Murphy-James lineup on paper. A well balanced unit with some good rebounding (Roddy, Murphy, James), some spacing (Murphy, Carter), and scoring (Roddy, Carter), with 2 excellent defender. Also Roddy can play the 2. They should get some chemistry together going forward.

Sarge is just so active..... he catches and finishes better than the scouting reports said.... he is nifty around the rim.

I like James for the backup center role more and more. He's just a much better defender, and rebounder than Wright, and can finish around the rim some, although not as good as Wright. Still, this team needs defense and rebounding at the moment.

James must have a 7'3 wingspan at the very least. He has legit center length.

He can't be a solid NBA player without a respectable jumpshot. His finishing around the rim is also quite average, if not bad. Too bad, because his court vision is really elite for a SG.

Murphy showing some defense now, good minutes from him so far. I kinda like that combination of Sarge and Murphy, they play with a lot of effort.
