HELP: In need of new forum software
Are there any tech-savvy guys here willing to work on importing the current mysql database into a new forum software like vBulletin or phpBB? These slowdowns and crashes are getting ridiculous

RE: HELP: In need of new forum software
There isn't an official conversion utility for vBulletin (that I could find). And php is open source.... can't find anything about conversion tools... but it's more than likely been done before.
If anyone knows of this being done in the past, please post here links to any information regarding.

RE:HELP: In need of new forum software
I just checked the vB homepage and saw that FuseTalk is now supported in their import utility. My admin will be testing the conversion process on the current db so hopefully we'll have the upgrade ready to go in a few weeks.

RE: HELP: In need of new forum software
Sweet. For those of you that are wondering about the soon to be board software used.... any of you that visit kingsfans.com will be familiar with it already.
For those of you that haven't seen it, visit kingsfans to check it out.
I trust dj will keep regular backups though, so what happened to kingsfans a couple of months ago doesn't happen to us.

RE: HELP: In need of new forum software
vB 3.0 testing is underway. If any of you know of any good vB skins we could use with the new site, let me know! Something with the Mavs colors of course

RE: HELP: In need of new forum software
I know that converting sqlserver to Oracle should not take more than a day's time. But Dj, do you think these crashes are because of backend(sqlserver) or frontend.

RE: HELP: In need of new forum software
two cents: I love the easy viewing that this format provides...is there anyway that the new look will not be so new that we have to learn a whole new format?
also, do we need to help you purchase the new stuff dj?

RE: HELP: In need of new forum software
I'm looking for skins/themes that aren't too cluttered, since that's one of the reasons why I've never really liked programs like vB or phpBB. The license is $160 and the skins I'm considering are all in the $20-30 range.
Donations are always appreciated

RE: HELP: In need of new forum software
I run a phpBB website. You can get pretty much any theme. i love phpBB. easy to hack/mod. Dont know the slightest thing about vB but if your in need with some phpBB help, i might be able to help. I could find some really good themes for ya if you wanted.
Holla
EDIT: I could also help with a logo/graphic if you needed. Just let me know. I'd be glad to help out.

Thats a nice skin. Do vB skins cost money? Does vB cost any to begin with?

Yea we're going with vB. No real rush at the moment though since I'm sure you all remember what happened the last time we did a forum upgrade.
