I don't hate Stack but even I have to admit that his legs are so gone i'm not certain he can still dunk.

What evidence is there that Stackhouse doesn't listen to his coach?

Hell, his coach seems to love him.

Is Jerry Stackhouse the new lightning rod? Is he the new Shawn Bradley?

Is he the new guy that fans can vent their vitriol toward when they are too gutless and ball-less to point their vitriol where it should rightfully directed, which is toward the coaching staff and front office? Is he the designated guy to intercept the mounds of shit that should rightfully be flung toward Mark Cuban and Avery Johnson?

Stackhouse is what he is, and he's not what he's not. He's a marginal player. This team will win and lose based on factors besides Jerry Stackhouse.

Every time people rail on Jerry Stackhouse, I hear disgust with Avery Johnson and Mark Cuban.

And, to be honest, I can't say that I don't enjoy hearing it.

You wanted it. You revelled in it. And now...you have got it.

Enjoy!

Johnson is as much a scapegoat for some as Stackhouse is for others. Neither are impressing right now, it must be said.

Personally I never understood why Quisy was relegated to the bench while stack was getting 30+ mpg. I stated so over the last year. He was losing his legs way before this year. I never really thought he was all that great at driving, he just seemed to get a lot of respect from the refs for whatever reason. When one day that respect disappeared any value that he had to the team whatsoever disappeared as well.

Shawn Bradley? Hardly. Shawn Bradley brought something to the table to go along with all his negatives. He could block shots and change the game on defense at times. Stackhouse brings nothing to this team. NOTHING. Marginal player? Hardly. Marginal players bring something to the table. Does Stack bring anything and I mean ANYTHING to the table?

I don't really see much how this involves Cuban. Avery shares the brunt of the criticism here. I've liked Avery as a coach, but I never understood why he put Stack in over Quisy. Quis brought several positives, all Stack brought was ineffecient shooting and turnovers. Never made sense to me as I watched the games.

chum, I hope you are glad that your team sucks, but hey at least you get to settle your vendetta with the coaching staff and front office. Enjoy!

And like others, I realize that there is plenty more wrong with this team, but it's pretty obvious that whenever Stack plays serious minutes we are a worse team. Read into that what you will. Like Murph said, we won last year in spite of Stackhouse.

I find your thread tasteless, juvenile, and offensive to all that is decent.

I find your anger misplaced.

Unlike you, I respect a former All-Star and many year veteran who brings a certain presence to the team.

Keep stroking Cuban off, while at the same time you burn a guy at the stake who sells out for you the best he knows how.

That's a typical Mavs fan these days. It's not what you've done before, it's what you've done for me lately. Oh, and we DO NOT mind burning you at the stake. Boo Finley when he gets here. Boo Nash. Boo 'em all. No respect for franchise tradition.

Most of you guys don't deserve. You simply don't deserve. I swear, the Mavericks fans of the last two years are the whiniest, bitchiest, most self-serving fans I have ever seen in twenty-plus years of watching sports. You are ENTITLED sons of bitches.

May you enjoy the fruits of your filthy labor. You certainly don't deserve any kind of success.

No, but you have certainly spread your fair share of vitriol throughout the last year. It's all one and the same to me. I certainly have seen you through plenty of potshots at Quis. Why exactly does Stack have more stripes on the wall than Quis?

Chum talk about what have you done for me lately? The night that we beat SA in game 7 were you screaming at the TV "F YOU AVERY, F YOU MARK CUBAN". No, I bet you were (or you should have been) thankful for what they did for this team. What about when the Mavs make it to the finals for the first time ever... was it in SPITE of them? The great Nellie never could do it, and probably never will. Now they are struggling (as many predicted with the weird preseason we had, tough schedule, and finals hang over) and you pull out the Avery bashes you've been saving up to use. God, go root for Golden State or Phx, I'm getting so sick of this anti-mavs attitude.

Hey, FINtastic, I'm just saying that through of all my criticism, I've never started a "hate" thread about anyone, even the coach. And I've certainly never seen such a thread--started by me or by anyone else--be stickied. This is disheartening to me.

I think we can all rail on certain people at certain times. But to sticky a "hate" thread is simply not positive. This thread makes me sick. It makes me want to puke. It's one to thing to call out Stackhouse (for one bad play in an entire game). It's another thing to sticky a thread filled with "hate."

I just don't like the turn Mavs fans have taken. There seems to be a lot of misplaced anger.

To answer your specific question, I really don't remember spreading a lot of vitriol (among the heaps of vitriol I have spewed) on Marquis. I seem to recall kinda liking the guy. But still and all, Stackhouse has far more skins on the wall than Daniels could dream of having.

I tend to keep my vitriol focused toward management and coaching. I guess I can't help myself, but I tend to support the guys on the court.

That's why a thread like this makes me want to puke.

With the lack of emotion that come across in internet posts, there's a fine line between negative and hatred. Obviously this thread was fueled by a heart breaking lost, and there have been quite a few that stack has blown in the final seconds actually. I seem to remember many negative threads started by you about Avery, and how he isnt that good, how he isnt prepared, all with the undertone that Nellie is god and Avery is horseshit. If you don't believe that then say it now.

Hell your biggest backup to your claim is that the real brains is del harris. Real good he did tonight huh?

All I'm saying dude is that while all of us (including you, me, and every other board member) are struggling through the loss, you always find a way to plug in your own anti-avery-cuban agenda. If you don't like the team, don't root for them. Knowing that you really are a long time fan of the team I know that's not possible, so how about not taking it out on the rest of us.

Thats one valuable opinion. I also think that a team isnt politicians and soldiers, and fans can criticize whatever part of the team that they see as a problem to the success of that team. The team got us where we were at the end of the game tonight. Stackhouse screwed up 3 plays in a short period of time where the momentum was ours, thus securing a loss and it wasnt even the first time-- the guy screws up pass receptions ALL THE TIME, jacks up shots, turns it over on the dribble and my least favorite: not calling a timeout so he can attempt a gamewinner himself.

If he was getting worse and knew it, thats one thing but he's getting worse and not playing team ball.

FFO, I can assure you that any thread I have created to rail upon the gross and apparent shortcomings of Avery Johnson did not get stickied to the top of the page.

I don't think this should be stickied either. That wasn't the point of any of my posts to you though.

Well, the point of ALL my posts wasn't that Stackhouse had a bad game tonight, or is a bad player in general, but that a team doesn't sell its own player short by hanging his dirty laundry for all the world to see--at the same time...and see, this is the rub...evidently absolving themselves of any guilt.

Sickening, I'll say it again. To pin this game on Stackhouse is sickening!

Who is pinning the game on Stackhouse publicly? Its a damn forum where people share opinions. Stackhouse secured a loss by screwing up incredibly badly tonight on three seperate occasions. Three.

Those were ALL public, and none were our faults. He sucked in a game that was televised world-wide, he got in the way of our comeback (that we shouldnt have needed), and he pulled the same bullshit he pulled two years ago-- trying to make himself look good at the cost of his team.

Its sickening to see you get so all up in a tiff about us venting about Stackhouse.

Vent in the gameday thread.

Or, will you not mind if I find my own reasons for why the Mavericks are playing like death warmed up, and have that thread stickied for some duration of time?

Jerry Stackhouse is the least of this team's problems. I'm pretty certain of that.

Since when the fu&K is not okay to criticize players? Name just ONE person that blamed the season on Stack? Name one. You can't do it.

I'm not going to sit here this entire season on my knees for a player who brings a GIANT BAG night in and night out. If it makes you feel better, then be my guest. I'll have no part of it.

You can puke all you want, you sure as hell can't convince anyone that Stack has a positive impact on this team.

I'll stop bagging on him either when his worthless eighty-year old knees are traded out of here.

And just to be clear, (for those who have spent years on this message board, but are too obtuse to get it), this is a thread about Jerry Stackhouse the player and his role as a Dallas Maverick. This is by no means a personal attack.

And I don't want to hear any of this "marginal" crap...the dude took more shots than Dirk last night. That falls partly on Avery for sure, but lets not underestimate the impact that Stack is having on the game. He took two more shots and scored twenty fewer points...excuse me for a moment while I puke.

Put me on the list. I was on the steady-growing list last year. His positives barely outweighed his negatives last year. This year, we won't be so lucky.
