Wishful thinking....Dallas/GS
Dallas trades: PF Antoine Walker (16.5 ppg, 9.3 rpg, 4.9 apg in 37.7 minutes)
PF Tariq Abdul-Wahad (16.5 ppg, 9.3 rpg, 4.9 apg in 37.7 minutes)
PG Tony Delk (6.9 ppg, 2.0 rpg, 0.9 apg in 16.8 minutes)
Dallas receives: PG Nick Van Exel (13.3 ppg, 2.7 rpg, 6.2 apg in 34.0 minutes)
C Erick Dampier (10.9 ppg, 10.9 rpg, 0.7 apg in 31.4 minutes)
Change in team outlook: +0.8 ppg, +2.3 rpg, and +1.1 apg.
Golden State trades: PG Nick Van Exel (13.3 ppg, 2.7 rpg, 6.2 apg in 34.0 minutes)
C Erick Dampier (10.9 ppg, 10.9 rpg, 0.7 apg in 31.4 minutes)
Golden State receives: PF Antoine Walker (16.5 ppg, 9.3 rpg, 4.9 apg in 36 games)
PF Tariq Abdul-Wahad (16.5 ppg, 9.3 rpg, 4.9 apg in 36 games)
PG Tony Delk (6.9 ppg, 2.0 rpg, 0.9 apg in 28 games)
Change in team outlook: -0.8 ppg, -2.3 rpg, and -1.1 apg.
TRADE ACCEPTED
Due to Dallas and Golden State being over the cap, the 15% trade rule is invoked. Dallas and Golden State had to be no more than 115% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement

RE:Wishful thinking....Dallas/GS
Dallas has a starting center, and obviously, a good backup to Nash. Becuase of Nick as a "spark off the bench", Jamison can start, and slide Finley back to SG.
Nash-NVE-Best/Daniels
Finley-Daniels/Howard
Jamison-Howard/Finley
Nowitzki-Jamison/Najera
Dampier-Bradley/Fortson
Actually not a bad center combination. Strong PG's. Howard can backup Finley or Jamison. Najera and Fortson getting spot minutes and added hustle minutes. Daniels learning pg from two of the best.

RE:Wishful thinking....Dallas/GS
It's definitely wishful thinking, but I'd do it in a heartbeat, and not because of Nick. Don't get me wrong, for all his faults he'd definitely be an upgrade at the backup point and SG positions over Best and Delk, but Dampier would be the meat of that deal. Problem is he'd also be the deal-breaker (well, him and TAW's contract).

RE:Wishful thinking....Dallas/GS
These GS-Dal trades that pop-up aren't going to work. Besides the fact that the W's don't want to trade Dampier espcially for a guy like Walker. Any trade that brings NVE back to the Mavs Cuban is pretty much admiting defeat and that he was wrong. I'm sure he already gets peeved times like tonight where Sean Elliot and Da from NBA Fastbreak and Kenny Smith from TNT both say the Mavs miss NVE and they shouldn't have trade him, bring Nick back would prove all the naysayers right and I don't think he wants to do that.

That deal is More "wishful", Less "thinking".

Lvubun1, uh, exactly, that's why it's "wishful thinking".
MightyToine, I'm sorry for suggesting they *gasp* trade Walker, but it would do them some good.
