IMO it's the move that makes the most sense. I think VC is a better fit in the starting lineup because he's both a better defender and a better team player... Ellis is the type of SG to give you a huge boost off the bench.

I wouldn't be opposed to moving Monta to the bench -- especially since I get the feeling that he is going to regress at some point -- if we made the right kind of trade later this season (for a legit 3-and-D starting-caliber player) but I don't think swapping Vince into the starting lineup for Ellis makes any kind of sense right now.

Actually until Devin gets healthy I would put Calderon on the bench if there was anyone I would put there.

Have Monta be the PG....

Sorry, but that's a stupid idea. Have you watched any games this year? What exactly does Monta have to do to get the haters off his back? It's as if some fans seem to want him to fail. Monta 23 PPG on .48 shooting vs Carter shooting .37. The only players shooting worse than Carter are Ellington and Ledo. If we're being honest, the only reason Carter is getting minutes is we're not deep enough at SG and SF due to injury. Crowder has earned his spot as the bench SF.

This is already really happening later in the game. Monta is bringing the ball down court and Calderon spots up in the corner. Monta's tunrovers the last few games points to him not quite ready to start at PG, but we might see this type of lineup as the season progresses. But if anyone's earned a starting spot off the bench it would be Crowder, not Carter. Ellis, Crowder, Marion, Dirk, Dalembert would be an interesting starting 5.

You don't bench your most productive player.

You also don't "start" a 36-year-old veteran whose minutes you're seriously trying to limit during the regular season... VC has a tendency to get exposed in extended minutes at this point in his career.

Not only is this a bad idea because of reasons stated above, but benching Monta would kill his confidence... And he seems like an emotional dude, he'd probably get pissed and complain. Kinda like Dez Bryant has been complaining about his touches, but don't get me started on that...

I never said limit Monta's minutes. He can play just as many minutes off the bench. I notice how the offense has fast starts but it quickly stops once the bench guys are in. Also, VC plays much better with the starters than when he's leading the bench mob.
