Default help houston get backup C

When reading about houston trying to get mutumbo for a backup center, o though that mutumbo is not the right guy because he has nothing left in the tank. I arranged a deal that will get houston a backup center, dallas a starting center, and portland is involved:

Dallas trades: PF Christian Laettner (5.9 ppg, 4.8 rpg, 1.9 apg in 20.5 minutes)
C Shawn Bradley (3.3 ppg, 2.6 rpg, 0.3 apg in 11.7 minutes)
SF Eduardo Najera (3.0 ppg, 2.7 rpg, 0.4 apg in 12.4 minutes)
SF Josh Howard (8.6 ppg, 5.5 rpg, 1.5 apg in 23.7 minutes)
Dallas receives: SF Jimmy Jackson (4.1 ppg, 1.5 rpg, 0.5 apg in 14.3 minutes)
SG Adrian Griffin (0.6 ppg, 1.0 rpg, 0.5 apg in 7.0 minutes)
C Theo Ratliff (7.9 ppg, 7.2 rpg, 0.8 apg in 31.3 minutes)
1st round draft pick from Portland
Change in team outlook: -12.3 ppg, -7.4 rpg, and -2.8 apg.

Houston trades: SF Eric Piatkowski (4.1 ppg, 1.5 rpg, 0.5 apg in 14.3 minutes)
SF Jimmy Jackson (4.1 ppg, 1.5 rpg, 0.5 apg in 14.3 minutes)
SG Adrian Griffin (0.6 ppg, 1.0 rpg, 0.5 apg in 7.0 minutes)
Houston receives: SG Ruben Patterson (7.0 ppg, 3.7 rpg, 1.9 apg in 73 games)
C Vladimir Stepania (2.6 ppg, 3.0 rpg, 0.6 apg in 42 games)
Change in team outlook: +4.9 ppg, +4.2 rpg, and +1.5 apg.

Portland trades: C Theo Ratliff (7.9 ppg, 7.2 rpg, 0.8 apg in 31.3 minutes)
SG Ruben Patterson (7.0 ppg, 3.7 rpg, 1.9 apg in 22.6 minutes)
C Vladimir Stepania (2.6 ppg, 3.0 rpg, 0.6 apg in 10.8 minutes)
1st round draft pick
Portland receives: PF Christian Laettner (5.9 ppg, 4.8 rpg, 1.9 apg in 48 games)
C Shawn Bradley (3.3 ppg, 2.6 rpg, 0.3 apg in 66 games)
SF Eduardo Najera (3.0 ppg, 2.7 rpg, 0.4 apg in 58 games)
SF Josh Howard (8.6 ppg, 5.5 rpg, 1.5 apg in 67 games)
SF Eric Piatkowski (4.1 ppg, 1.5 rpg, 0.5 apg in 49 games)
Change in team outlook: +7.4 ppg, +3.2 rpg, and +1.3 apg.

TRADE ACCEPTED

Portland- replaces two centers with two more... get rid of patterson (one of the last bad eggs in portland) while recieving a nice young SF in howard. Piatkowski is a good shooter and najera can be a solid contributer. Even though hey lost a little in expiring contract (about 3mil), they will still have enough money to test the FA market.

Houston- gets a backup center and helps out thier swing position rotation. With sura as a backup 2, they dont even need griffen or piatkowski. They get patterson who is better than any of the three players that they are giving up.

Dal- get starting center and a draft pick that will help them later (probaly be a lottery pick). Also we are losing 2 SFs and recieving 2. Although they arent as good as the ones we are giving up... i would still do the deal because we would still have good role players that can play D and knock down an open shot.

I would LOVE to see Theo here, but:
A) as dub said, I dont think that is enough to get Theo here
B) even with the loss of Howard in that trade, we would still be taking on 2 more 2 guards.

No way would I do this trade. This would make us a much worse rebounding team and even a worse defensive team. It really doesn't help us improve offensively. The only benefit to the Mavs would be to reduce our roster by one. Way to high a price for that marginal benefit.

no way in hell that portland or houston thinks about doing this deal.

we send out all our trash and get the best players. houston gets a bunch of trash, and portland gives up their only good big man for a bunch of trash.

plus we get a 1st.

i think i'm getting a bad case of gas.

You think Houston's so desperate for a 15-mpg backup center that we'll give up our starting SF, who played 38mpg last year? And to a division rival, no less?
