GDT game 25 - Mavs (7-17) at Celtics (21-4) 6:30 FSSW
Mavs come in hot.
Celtics have won 3 straight and 8 of 10.
Mavs have won 2 straight and 5 of 10
Last time it went to OT.
Hopefully the otter triumphs

Typing that we were 5-5 over the last 10 is probably the most depressing thing I've typed all season.

Since the last time the two teams met, the Celtics defense has fallen off a bit, while their offense has improved. Probably the latter is due to increasing familiarity with a new roster.
There was some experimentation to see who would be the 5th starter, Baynes or Morris. That will probably continue to shift, but recently it's been Baynes. It will definitely be Baynes tonight as Morris is out, resting his knee which has bothered him all season. Boston's defense and rebounding is better when Baynes starts, and Horford seems to play better in that format as well.
Tatum is leading the league in 3p%, 4th quarter fg%, and points per shot. The enthusiasm surrounding the rookie keeps growing. He needs to take more shots though.
Dallas proved they are capable of winning against the Celtics in the last game, so this could be a close one again.

I would love to see Dallas come away with the win here, I think it would mean a lot to this team. And yes, I know winning messes up the draft plan, but I don't care. That's what the FO makes big money to figure out. As a fan I don't cheer quite are hard for long term strategical planning, I just want to see my team kick some ass every damn time.

Maybe it would be best if they put up a good showing and nearly pull off the upset but ultimately lose because they are outmatched.

The Otter has spoken, so the Bostonians will obey! Thus, the Mavs win, once again, thanks to the Mavs' very efficient bench players.
Mavs - 100
Irish Otters - 99

In addition to Morris, Brown is out as well (non-basketball related inflamed eye).

Ugh. Between injuries and teams choosing the Mavs to take their effort vacation, we're winning too many games.

I am curious. Do the Mavericks have a shot tonight?
Here's a little table displaying how the two have done over the course of the season and during the last 10 games:
In their last matchup the two teams went to overtime, and the Celtics won 110-102 in Dallas. There should be plenty of offense tonight. As bad as the Mavericks record has been the lowest scoring output has been 87 points. The lowest for the Celtics has been 90.
That being said, the Celtics don't go down without a fight. In their losses they have scored no fewer than 98 points and average 101.25 during those 4 games. If the Mavericks want to win they will need to be prepared to do something that other teams have not done, and, that is, shut down the Celtics offense with their newfound defense. Also they must shoot around 50%.

I called a high scoring game. Kinda far from that. I said that the Mavericks need to play some defense. That they did. I also said that they need to shoot around 50%. They shot 39.5%. That killed them. Holding Boston to 41.4% is impressive though.

This game was ended perfectly. Lots of effort and good play but ultimately losing to keep the tank alive.

Dennis with a bad shooting night, looked like he really wants to play with Ayton.

I wish Carlisle would at least flip minutes for Yogi (34) and DSJ (25).
Is it just management of injuries and development? I did see somewhere that DSJ may be nursing a groin injury for a couple of weeks now...
I really like Kleber. He will at least be a rotation guy for us going forward. Good find.

Maybe after this 6 game losing streak. Hopefully it crushes the spirit enough to lower Messley and Yogi's minutes in favor of some young blood like Cleveland and Motley. It's becoming yet another year that we have guys on the roster that we don't get to see play in games mostly because of Rick reasons.

DSJ said he's been working through a groin injury recently, nothing serious but that could contribute some to why his minutes have been a little up and down.
