Allen Iverson would have been a sweet Maverick.

Yea, they were unloading 22 million in salaries. Utah wanted more picks back then what was offered. Seemed they were haggling over draft picks.
No love lost between the franchises, seems GSW had owed Utah a 1st rounder, with protection and the race was for staying out of the 9th hole as it was top 8 protected, all season, GSW was trying to get the protection increased, but when that failed, they pulled life support on the season and tanked it.

Wouldn't have been totally worth it. Would rather ride out Mariona and Carter in their last season.

Isn't he a bit like Kidd where it's not the numbers that define him, but the little things he does, defensively taking the top player 1-3. Moving the ball around, making the right basketball play. He'd be 34 by the time the contract expires. Then again for a team that's in need of a 1st or 2nd option next to Dirk, AI might have been overpriced at 12 million per.

Calderon/Iggy would be solid...and 2014 picking up the missing pieces like Granger and Gortat in FA.
But maybe Ellis/Harris will be better...

If Ellis is worth $10 per, Iggy is certainly worth $12.

Stein's latest twit was Ellis at 8 per.
Marc Stein @ESPNSteinLine 59m
All indications point to Mavs signing Monta Ellis to three-year deal worth $25+ mil with their remaining cap space. NOT via S-and-T w/Bucks
