Btw, MCW looked pretty decent in action today. He got a little rattled by Patrick Beverly's ball pressure. But he made some nice plays around the hoop.
I said it on DB but he needs to learn to put the smaller guy on his hip and just walk him up the court. That is what a lot of older savvy big vets do. They just kind of turn their back and walk the ball pressure right with them.

Ledo? Also, just saw a tweet that Bryan has come to terms with ESPN Dallas to cover the Mavs summer league. Very nice.

I somehow missed this thread - what did Kidd do to get a tech?

Kelly Oylnyk is looking mighty impressive. And Rasheed Wallace is my easy favorite for Assistant Coach of the Year.

Wonder if he tells the players in practice:
And Kelly Olynyk has the best hair in the NBA. I hope he keeps the look. He may suck as a player in the long run but seeing a hippie run around court and shooting 3s is pretty damn funny.

He reminds me of a fatter Keith Van Horn. He definitely got put in the right situation. He should get plenty of playing to try and develop. And his team has no expectations in terms of wins-losses.
MCW today had a pretty abysmal day. He kept attacking the rim. But Plumlee just continued to change his shot. Even blocked a couple of them.

MCW is going to have issues in the NBA. He looks great on paper the way that Dojo looks good on paper but without a shot and without a lot of versatility/athleticism inside, he won't be successful.

I don't know.... Shaun Livingston has carved out a career even with that horrific injury and he didn't have a lot of athleticism or a jumpshot before the injury....

Livingston was athletic and had some great scores for his size in draft combines for agility and speed and was an efficient jumpshooter compared to MCW. I'm not sure where you are getting the information that he isn't athletic or that he didn't have a jumper.
Livingston was also described as a playmaker with a jumper compared to Magic Johnson with such descriptions as "stunning court vision" and "much, much closer to the type of "pure" point guard NBA coaches love. His court vision is out of this world. The fact he possesses an excellent shooting touch and can score off the dribble is really gravy"
On the other hand, MCW is described like so, "This study is not kind to Michael Carter-Williams who ranks as the least efficient scorer in this group at 0.746 points per-possession. His 22.1% overall turnover rate is the second worst among his peers, as is his 0.683 PPP in the half court. Those two stats are representative of the two key areas his scouting report notes he need to make strides in to reach his potential as a pro: his decision-making and perimeter shooting."

Agreed about Livingston. He had excellent speed and agility to go with that size. It's a shame that he had such a horrible injury. It says a lot that he's in the NBA after such a horrible injury.

Erica you didnt post a thing that disputed what I said.
Livingston:
No Step Vertical: 26.5
Max Vertical: 30
Lane Agility: 10.72
3/4 Court Sprint: 3.23
MCW:
No Step Vertical: 31.5
Max Vertical: 41
Lane Agility: 10.68
3/4 Court Sprint: 3.22
Here's a blurb about Livingston's shooting.... from the high school 3 point line:
34 percent from three-point range for a 31-2 team.

Except the part where you claimed he was unathletic and didn't have a jumper.
Which was, y'know like your whole post.

There's a difference between not having a jumper and not having three-point range. Dwyane Wade, for example. But Livingston has been a killer almost everywhere inside of the three-point line.

The only unfortunate thing about it at this point is we didn't keep him. Instead we have a 3rd string PG. I hope things pan out in our favor.

Well, he was not in the pros pre injury. He shot low 40's pre injury overall. And only shot 10 3s combined in his first two seasons.
And (IMO) high school is not a good evaluation of whether he could shoot or not inside considering the level of competition.

Yeah, his first season (which was his only season before the injury) he didn't shoot well, but he was a rookie then, getting adjusted to the NBA. In his 200 or so games since then, he's shot it pretty well from everywhere except for the 3-9 foot range.

If there are questions you're interested in being asked with Larkin, Ledo, Mekel, Crowder, James and Akognon, let me know and I'll see what I can do.

Crowder - any plans on driving into the lane more often, or is he still going to be used to stretch the floor?
Ledo - how much "competitive" basketball has he played since high school - scrimmages at Providence, rec leagues, pick-up games, etc.?
Larkin - how much of an impact is his father when it comes to his competitiveness?
Mekel - what will be the biggest challenge in translating his game from the Israeli league to the NBA?
James - what does he need to do to push his game to the next level and solidify a place in this league?
I don't know a whole lot about Akognon, so anything you ask him would be informative...
