Danny Ainge calls sobbing at 2am, and gives you 10 min to decide
he wants Stackhouse, Terry, Pavel and a second for Paul Pierce. 10 minutes to decide. Finley is already gone.

Abso-Freakin'-lutly! I love Terry and Stack, but Terry expires this and we have DH. Stack is harder IMO because of what he brings. Yet his replacement would take care of that. Pavel is unproven and until he is proven I say bye-bye. The second rounder is nothing; I'd offer 3 mil instead though. Then we go sign GP to back up DH. It's beautiful. Never going to happen though.
Why is Danny crying?

What's my team's record? How have we been playing?
Regardless, I think my answer is no. I value Terry and Stack more than most, and I'm still intrigued by Pavel's potential, although I'm not sold on him.

And I think you overrate Terry. DH is a #5 lottery pick. He's a true point that has been in the league for a year. You'd rather trade him than a SG that's got a PG's body? Crack kills dude. I love Terry here, but the upside of DH is much more impressive.

RE: Danny Ainge calls sobbing at 2am, and gives you 10 min to decide
Pull the trigger, and find a way to sign Earl Watson. Then move TAW/Bradley or even KVH and Filler for Ratliff (bound to be a way).
Harris, Watson, DA
Pierce, Howard, Christie as swingmen
Dirk (maybe KVH if not needed for Ratliff)
Ratliff, Damp, DJ
If KVH didn't have to be moved, you would be in title contention, IMO.

In a heartbeat. Even if you can't get a starting PG for this year, you STILL have Pierce, JHo, Dirk and Damp, and hopefully Devin coming along soon.
No brainer I think.

RE:Danny Ainge calls sobbing at 2am, and gives you 10 min to decide
We give up Stackhouse, Terry, and Pavel, for Paul Pierce AND we wouldn't have to take on a bad contract. In our dreams... Before I was pretty optimistic about the possibility of us landing Pierce, but now that Finley's been waived instead of traded, the chances of us landing Pierce are almost 0%. If Boston trades Pierce, wherever they send him, Raef or Blount will also be included because they're desperately trying to get out from under those contracts. Since Finley's been waived, his contract still counts against the cap, and we haven't cut payroll. So, at this point, I can't really see Cuban taking on either of those contracts. Although, we at least don't have to pay the LT for Fin's contract anymore, so maybe I'm wrong.

True, but both Christie and Pierce are very good passers that can play some point. Having those two would very much lessen the burden on Devin. Marquis and DA could be of use as well. I'd rather give up Harris that JET, but still, I'd do that deal without blinking.

RE: Danny Ainge calls sobbing at 2am, and gives you 10 min to decide
I'm not a huge PP guy at all, but the trade makes lots of sense. It also makes what the Mavs currently have in skillsets make much more sense.
***
What if they wanted it to be a bigger deal? Say PP, Raef, Banks for Stack, Terry, PPod, DJ, and KVH.
Boston gives up the biggest talent, but in return gets an 2 expiring contracts (with talent), rid of a bloated one, and gains 2 young "Bigs"
Dallas gets the big prize in PP, and gets a veteran rotational Big, as well as a young, but gains some contract length.
Thoughts?

RE:Danny Ainge calls sobbing at 2am, and gives you 10 min to decide
Okay, so apparently Boston is going to pick up Dickau. Not sure if this makes a deal for Pierce more or less likely to happen. I suppose Pierce is probably more likely to be traded, but less likely to be traded to us. Before Harris seemed to be the most desireable piece we had for them, but if they pickup Dickau, the last thing they'll need is another unproven PG. So Harris is likely out, unless Dickau or one of their other points comes to us in the trade. I'm trying to find a deal that works on real.gm, but it's a pain in the arse. Aside from a servicable point, the two things Boston needs the most are a small forward and some youth and athleticism at the 5. So in this sense, Stack makes the most sense because he's a nice player at the 3 and expires soon enough. Marquis is close enough to a 3 and is young, so he could also appeal to them, who knows. They'll also need one or maybe even two of our young bigs. I'm sure they'd like DJ, not sure about Diop or Pavel though.
I suppose my point is that there are some requirements on both sides for this deal to work. Either Raef or Blount will absolutely have to be included (probably Blount). Either Stackhouse, Daniels or both will have to be included. And they'll need one or two of our young bigs. Maybe Terry and/or KVH would have to go as well, or maybe they'd take TAW, who the hell knows.

I really like the current roster as well, but until Pierce is either traded to another team, or it becomes clear that he's staying in Boston, I'll keep dreaming. As the days go on, it seems more and more likely that Pierce will be moved. I know Cuban's trying to adopt this philosophy of not overhauling the roster, but if he has the chance to get Pierce, I think he'd be stupid not to take it. With Finley being waived and all, and the Celtics probably picking up Dickau, it's less likely than it was before, but it's still a possibility (albeit a very small one.) If the Celts do move him, I'd say the frontrunners are probably Denver, but we'd definitely be in the running.

No problem You know, dreams sometimes do come true. Last season, when Erick Dampier was averaging 12 and 12 while our Mavs were utterly centerless, I kept thinking, "God, I hope we get him next season." Of course, he was a free agent, but still, our luck with free agent centers had been atrocious up to that point. So, as much I hoped for us to get him, I thought it would never happen. Then, my wish came true and the Mavericks acquired Erick Dampier. Of course, the flipside to that coin was that we lost Nash, but oh well, we all have different feelings about that. Oh well, not that the situation is the same, and I'm not saying Damp is the same calibur player as PP. I'm just saying that not all dreams are pipedreams. Keep the faith, brother!

Unfortunitly I think you're right. I like JET, don't get me wrong, but Devin can play. All he needs is a little patience given to him and he'll flourish.

RE: Danny Ainge calls sobbing at 2am, and gives you 10 min to decide
I cannot imagine how my friend Miles would not give up Devin to get a franchise guy like Pierce. Devin's best projections are not that of a Gary Payton. That said this trigger should be easy to pull right?
I like Devin and I am not entirely sold on Pierce, but based on basketball talent alone isn't this a no-brainer?
