Top baby names of 2002 Jacob and Emily were the most popular baby names in the United States for 2002 -- topping the list of new parents' favorites for the second year in a row. New names breaking into the top 10 in 2002 are Alexis for girls and Daniel for boys. Names dropping out of the top 10 were Samantha and Jasmine for girls and Anthony and Dylan for boys, according to government records. Different spellings of the same name (such as Hailey, Haley, and Hayley) were grouped together by the Babycenter editorial team to get the most accurate representation of a name's popularity. Nup. My name isn't anywhere near those lists. I've only ever met one person with my name....and
she spelt it differently. I don't really like many of those girls names, a lot of them seem very 'trendy' were as people seem to be a little bit more traditional when giving boys names. Naming kids is hard though, I never wanted my little girl to go through the hell I went through with a name, nor did I want her to sit down on her 1st day of school and have 6 other kids in her year with the same name.

I can't find an official list for Australia...but the page i found these lists on said they formed it from searching 28 000 birth notices..
