Bring On The Lakers
With the squad that we got and the wins were getting this last stretch..i honestly want to see the mavs try out kobe and LA. i think after seeing dirk this past couple games and the sighting of his dad, mavs can make it a match up. All we need is damp and hollins to cover the lane and let the offense run it. The lakers will have too much to cover and let Dirk run his isolation..FINALS!

Lakers are just too good for us, in fact they're too good for the entire Western conference. Too much size, too much skill, too much length, and then there's Kobe and the fact that we never win at Staples.

If we still had Devin then I would say bring them on but since we don't the Mavs should try to avoid the Lakers just like everybody else.

Sure, it's a different animal in the playoffs, they are the champs. The game is slowed down to a half court grind, we won't put up 130 points in one playoff game this year. Now if we can hold them to say 90 points, then we got a chance, but seriously doubt that we could.

Clearly Devin Harris is the difference between being competitive with the Lakers versus not.

The thing is we played a struggling Suns team and then a Jazz team that can't win on the road. I have confidence in our team, but I'd much rather see them face the Lakers in a later round and hope that they were a bit more beat up than us. I am encouraged by Bynum coming back as the return of a starter can really mess up chemistry.

I don't think you were debating anything to begin with, you just made a statement and he replied to it. Having said that, I don't understand how having Harris would help us against the Lakers?

Every time we played the Lakers Devin used to have his way with Fisher and Farmar and Devin could get to the basket and FT line anytime he wanted so I would have liked our chances vs. the Lakers with Devin.

I really hope you're not implying if the Mavs still had Harris they'd be on the level of a 65 win Laker team that wins by nearly 8 points a game, with a massive front line and a shooting guard that's made a habit out of going off on us.
I REALLY hope you're not implying that.

Bring on the Lakers if Kobe will miss 3-4 games and they play their rest crap of backcourt aka Fisher/Farmar/Vujabitch.
Otherwise....no thank you.

Harris couldn't pass his way out of a wet paper sack. I'm excited by the prowess he has shown, don't get me wrong, but he's playing like two-guard on offense.
You know what they say about two-guards: dime a dozen.

We don't need Devin Harris to beat the Lakers... because we have the best bench in the NBA!
Everyone says stupid things sometimes. Pointing out one person's just seems to be this boards defense mechanism in response to how far the Mavericks fell off the map since two seasons ago.

And that's why we haven't been able to fill that need in how long?

I was just watching the Lakers vs Nuggets game and I must say the Lakers are pretty much a lock for the finals. Obviously I'm a huge Mavs fan but if you really look at it objectively now that the Lakers have Bynum back nobody can really beat them in 7 games. My current dream is Mavs in WCF :P I think Lakers vs Cavs or Orlando finals would be something to watch: Kobe vs Lebron or Bynum vs Howard (those are some awesome match ups) You say, "What about the Celtics?" I think Celtics are a bit boring to watch (that's not taking anything away from them though, they're a damn good team) :]

I am split between:
declaring this as the official thread that allows non-Mavericks fans to declare Maverick fans as delusional looney tunes
OR
embracing this mentality as it would be the only fitting karmic and just redemption for the tragic warriors fiasco of playoffs past

beating the lakers is simple..
we just need to somehow manage to either get gasol or kobe (or better both) sidelined for the entire series. we can totally beat their team without their top 2!
chances for that are rather slim though - so I'd much rather not play them until the WCF.

good idea. Let's let two other teams try and hurt them or wear them down then let us take a shot.

Don't get over excited because of two good games. The Mavs still are what they are because you can't change how you have played throughout the season in just two games. They are on a rise for sure but don't forget there is always a fall around the corner.
Remember how we blew out NO in the final game of the season last year? Everyone was so excited and saying we will get out of the first round easily. We all know what happened there.
Just be glad we are playing well at the moment. Thinking that they can beat the Lakers because of two games when they haven't beaten them in God knows how long is just delusional

Awful comparison. Considering the objective facts--i.e. that they are the highest scoring bench in the NBA (by a few points, no less)--it's nowhere near "stupid" to say that the Mavs have the best bench in the NBA. It's certainly not even 1/20th as stupid as claiming that Devin Harris would somehow singlehandedly turn the Mavs into a team that can match up against the most talented team in the West.

1. game: lost at home with 7. Green starting, no Josh. Sucking 3-Point-Shooting. Dirk completly off.
2. game: lost with 7 in LA. Green starting, no Josh. We was up in the 3.quarter with what, 15? Then this epic meltdown with a crazy Ariza etc.
3. Game: Lost with 7 in LA. No Josh, no Bynum. Late Comeback, leading with like 5-6 middle of 4. quarter.
Well, doent look SO bad that we wouldnt have a chance but we also didnt get blown out this saison against them.
But sure, it would need a Kobe playing a horrible serie or getting injuried etc to have a realistic chance.
