I'm expecting some Rodman-like numbers out of TC in NY. The only points he'll get will be on putbacks, since you know Carmelo and Amare are going to take EVERY shot...but he should end up with several 20 rebound games, considering he will be the only person playing defense (unless you count Balkman...and I don't).

I challenge the notion that we let him walk "for nothing" though. $40MM difference in contracts, x2 (or more) for luxury tax...I'd say we let him walk for $80MM, plus greatly enhanced future flexibility (cap room in 2012, a full MLE, more trade flexibility). If you think $80MM is nothing...will you please write me a check for $80MM?

So what assett did we get back for letting him go? Oh yeah, flexibility... Flexibility is that guy who anchors the defense, right?

It was a smart move. We can't tie our team down for years because of Chandler.

So I hear, but let's not pretend that we got anything of value in return.

He was the missing piece. His stats pale next to his true value. Mobility. Attitude. Leadership. A perfect fit. Thanks for bringing us a championship, TC. Without you it would have been impossible.

For those reasons, I think letting him go was a mistake. Why he is gone and Haywood is still here, when amnesty is an available option, boggles my mind. There were ways to keep TC and retain flexibility, but Mark says his ability to wheel and deal is more important. Now the ball is back in MC's court. time to wheel and deal. Impress me.

I've been watching that dunk over and over and over again since the Finals. One of the great moments and Bynum's face when Chandler is walking by him after the dunk is priceless. Tells the story of that series.

That said, it simply wasn't the no-brainer some people make it out to be to offer Tyson five years and $60+ million. As much as he did help us--that contract could eventually turn into quite a problem for the Knicks. In our case, Tyson would have had to be our second-best player for years to come to make it worth it. We would have had little financial flexibility to add quality pieces with Dirk and Tyson taking 55-60% of our entire cap.

Yep, unfollowing TC as well...and although I wish Tyson's career well, I hope the Knicks fail- simply hate all NY and MIA teams

Can't believe this is happening, but that's life for you. Thanks Tyson for all the hard work and helping us win a championship. It's more then we can ask for.

Those clips and pics bring back so many memories of glory. Damn, this blows. I hope Cubes and Donnie understand what they're doing.

Thanks TC for the CHAMPIONSHIP, Lamar Odom and a chance of landing Dwight and Deron next year.

A championship and an Odom for us, a championship and a big fat contract for Tyson Chandler. Happy faces all around.

And who do we all have to thank for all that? Erick Dampier and his voidable contract.

I will say, that I'm gonna miss the "drive time with Tyson" on Ben and Skin. As well as the Tyson & JJ jokes they always do.

I hated him before he was a Mav, especially when he was in NO. But after seeing what kind of a guy he really is, and player that greatly influenced our championship team. I've given total respect to him. Sucks to see him go, i'm not bitter about this at all. But whatever, you will always be a part of the Mavs family, Thanks for everything you did Tyson! have fun in NYC.
