Suns lose to Grizzlies at home
Phoenix is 31-4 w/ Nash and 0-5 without him. Amare had 8 points, 4 rebounds and 5 fouls in 36min. I guess, this confirms that Nash is their best player and Amare shouldn't ever be mentioned as an MVP candidate this season.
Pacers won several games without O'Neal, Artest and Stephen Jackson. NO is winning some games lately without several key players. Even Bobcats are winning games and staying competitve in several others. And the Suns can't win at home with Amare, Marion, Joe Johnson & QRich. Very interesting!!

Amare had an offnight!?!? Disqualify his votes for the Allstar weekend!
Seriously though, Nash is the star of that team.

wow...the cream of the league is back on-top. Spurs just took first spot. Dang those guys, it's going to be a tough wcf between dallas and the spurs, I hate those spurs fans.

who was EVER doubting this? Nash is without a doubt the motor of that team...

Not too many on this board but there were a few in the mainstream media who touted Amare as the best player on that team. To his credit, Amare did have an incredible stretch of games back in December. But yes, with Nash's absence and the results subsequently prove that Nash is their best player and if indeed he powers 'em back to the top of the league, he deserves an MVP.

Why is Nash the MVP because Phoenix sucks without him?
Utah sucks without AK-47. I don't see people handing him the MVP.

If AK had played longer there would have been a lot more talk about him.
You can never discount a guy that puts up numbers like his.
15ppg, 50% shooting, 7.2rpg, 2.0apg, 1.43spg and 4.4bpg

An NBA MVP must be able to contribute on both ends of the court. Nash flat out cannot do jack squat on defense. He may be deserving of a Phoenix MVP but he is not the NBA MVP nor will he ever be aslong as he leaves open holes on the perimeter for the other team.

Well the Suns are 31-4 with Nash. I think the Jazz were like a .500 team with Andrei.

Are those your requirements for an MVP or is it the leagues?? I'm not sure how the league votes for MVP but I can't see how Nash isn't running away with it right now. There isn't a more valuable player in this league than Nash. Did you see that Grizz game? If MVP voting started last week Amare probably would've recieved a bunch of votes because of his play. Without Nash he looks clueless.

RE: Suns lose to Grizzlies at home
The Jazz were scorching with AK...and without Arroyo. Things started going downhill slightly when Arroyo (who's pretty much worthless on the defensive end of the court and not good enough offensively to make up for it) came back. But the legs really fell off the table when AK went down. Give me a pick between AK and Nash, even just for this year (ie., ignoring age), and I take AK (which isn't to say that Nash doesn't deserve much of the credit he's getting for the Suns' success this year - he obviously does).

RE: Suns lose to Grizzlies at home
Nash lead his team, which won only 29 games last year, to 31-4 in it's first 35 games. At the time he got injured, his team had the best record by a significant margin. There were some rumblings as to whether he was truly the reason for the team's success as Amare and Marion were posting stellar numbers too. But when Nash got injured and the team flopped to 0-5, that clearly indicates the sole reason for their early success was Nash.
Now, I'm not saying that he'd win the MVP based on that. But if Nash can come back and help them regain their early season form and helps them back to #1 spot at the end of the season, my vote would clearly be for Nash.
This year, I believe, the MVP should go to the best player on the team that ends the regular season with the best record. Saying that, what I wish for is obviously for the Mavs to end up with the best record so Dirk could win the MVP.

Because when Nash is healthy, Suns is the #1 team?? It's one thing to be vital to the team (Richardson to Golden State) and it's another thing to be vital to the #1 team.
But there were some talks about AK47 being MVP IF he didn't get injured. ...then again, who knows what kind of record Jazz would have had. You never throw in the WHAT IF factor when you determine who is better.
I actually think if Suns has the best record, Nash's chance of getting MVP is higher than before. Why? Because previously Nash and Amare would split the votes and now it's clear that Nash IS THE ONE.
I don't expect Nash to win even though I think he deserves it. His offense benefits both offensively and defensively for the team. When the game is fast-pace, the opponent gets tired out easily (against Shaq and Yao) so Suns won't need to be forced to play half-court game where defense is more important. So overall, Nash's style does help team's DEFENSE just in a subtle way.
