I will give Nellie credit though.
He must have known early in the season last year that winning the Western Conference wasn't going to be as good of a position as finishing second.

Plus, we don't know what their relationship is like behind the scenes, and it's not like Fin's turning it into a whole Alonzo vs. Kenyon/New Jersey-type scenario.
I think its odd that Finley is ragged on for not being a more vocal "leader-type" and yet when he is vocal then he gets ragged on again.

The list of star players who call out and rag on role players is huge. Jordan used to do it, Shaq does it.

Exactly what would Finley be calling out Bradley on this year? 3 stellar perfomances in a row? Bradley may have been inconsistent in the past, but this year he has played very consistently. I never remember Jordan bringing up Scottie Pippens inconsistent play early in his career while the Bulls were on their championship runs. It's one thing to bring up something that the player IS doing versus something that they have done in seasons past.

If a player has a history of being inconsistent then 3 "stellar performances in a row" does not make his consistent.

Jordan never called out Pippen - my post specifically mentioned ROLE players. Jordan would criticize the role players on his team on a regular basis.

Actually Jordan did call out Pippen early in his career and called out Dennis Rodman and Tony Kukoc during the championship runs. But he called them out on things that they were doing, not things that they had done in seasons past.

It does no good for Fin to dredge up the past. There is no reason to call Shawn out. He has not done anything to deserve being called out this year. And we are playing this years schedule with this years players. Going back to the past and using it to call Shawn out does not good at all and is piss poor leadership. Now this is just one little incident, so if this is it, it's no big deal. But I certainly wouldn't want to see behavior out of Fin on a regular basis.

plain and simple: Finley's comments were not meant to be constructive in any way...they were not a "calling out" for Shawn to be more than he has been, they were simply a criticism of what he have been....in no way a positive comment.

Shawn Bradley's situation kind of reminds me of Antoine's Situation back when he was with Boston....

Walker was expected(when he was drafted in '96) to be the "saviour" of the Franchise(although the C's getting hosed in the Tim Duncan sweepstakes played a part in that decision) and when he didn't live up to the expectations, and when Pierce arrived, Walker became the Scapegoat for all that is/was/will be wrong with the Celtics....

He has been Criticized, ridiculed, and disrespected just because he wasn't a so-called "STAR" like Pierce. People were killing him for playing the Point-forward role when they wanted him to be something he's not : A Power-Forward.
