Made an interesting research after reading your article:

Opponents shots come from an average distance of 13.56 feet (4th best in league), 2-Pointers from 9.91 feet (2nd best). Opponent also average only 57.02 Points in the Paint by my own metric (which is Points in the Paint + all Free Throws Made) and that's 3rd best in the league.

Remember that Tyson didn't have any impact on Point in the Paint last season, so this is a bit surprising.

Tells you that Mavs main issue is perimeter defense, an area in which Kidd & Terry have struggled so far.
