Knicks have set a record for longest chronological winning streak of all time.
They have not lost a game since March 11, 2020
That’s 276 days without a loss

@woj
The Houston Rockets have offered James Harden and 2022 first round pick to the Los Angeles Lakers for Talen Horton-Tucker. The Lakers have declined, sources tell ESPN.

I honestly had to check to make sure this wasn't true.

If Durant lost a step from his injury, I sure can't see it. He looks like... well, Kevin Durant.

Powell looked pretty good too. Doesn't look like he's lost significant mobility (although it's his lateral mobility that worries me and that was bad before).
Maybe Achilles injuries aren't so bad anymore?

Chris Haynes (@ChrisBHaynes)
Yahoo Sources: Chicago Bulls forward Noah Vonleh has tested positive for COVID-19 and begins mandatory 10-day quarantine. He will be waived. I’m told he is feeling good overall.

Re-sign Josh and sign Gobert or Otto Porter. Maybe dump Powell so you can re-sign THJ too

What’s your upper limit for Gobert? I’m assuming you’d like him as an asset as well as what he brings as a player.

Am I crazy for not even really wanting Giannis that badly? I'm not just saying that as I've been vocal about not caring about preserving cap space for such things.
I mean, sure, it would have been fun, but I am glad he stays in Milwaukee.

I love Giannis as a player and a person, but I totally agree.
With Doncic, he'd lose the ability to have the ball in his hands a lot which would make him more of a roll man and he's limited with his ability to pop because of his shooting. I'm not sure you pay max money for a guy who can only roll (when Doncic can get guys like Powell 11ppg)
I also think that that lack of shooting is going to be really limiting.
I'm happy Giannis is staying in Milwaukee and I'm happy he got paid. I'm also happy we can move on to better discussions. I think we're going to see that a lot of our needs are taken care of with the players we have and I think we're also going to see what we need by the playoffs this year. Then we have a full max contract worth of cap next summer to really go and get those guys. That's exciting to me.

Yes, both of you are absolutely nuts. Giannis and Luka would win multiple championships together. They would be one of the two or three greatest duos in NBA history. We're talking Kobe and Shaq level of greatness, only I really think they would have lasted together a lot longer than Kobe and Shaq. I'm absolutely convinced of that. So yes, if you don't want a potential dynasty, you're crazy.
Miss me with any of these notion about Giannis being a roll man being "limiting." I think he might be the greatest roll man in history and he would benefit tremendously from NOT having the ball in his hands all the time. And yes, a two-time MVP and DPOY, top 3 player in his prime is worth the max.
This is why the idea of Giannis was so intoxicating. It wasn't just the idea of putting Luka with another star. It's that I think their games are absolutely PERFECT for each other. A match made in heaven. I don't think we've seen anything like in NBA history.
I'm not too upset about it, because it was a longshot and I figured Giannis would indeed stay in Milwaukee. So it's whatever. But no, I'm not at all feeling this ambivalence about Giannis being a Maverick, like, "Meh, I didn't really want to pair our generational superstar with another generational superstar." Nope. Not feeling that at all.
And Dwight Powell is a swell guy, but I would personally drive him to the f*cking glue factory if we had Giannis. In fact, I'm not convinced we're not better off without Powell right now.

Just curious. Who's still available that excites you? Because from what I'm looking at, the 2021 free agency is now a bunch of overpaid and over the hill guys that are questionable fits at best. Gobert? Derozen? Lowry? Oh... goodie.

If we didn't have KP, and hopefully a healthy KP, then I'd agree with you. But man, you have to be able to shoot in today's game. Giannis is like the best role player of all time, but he just doesn't have that it factor when it comes to taking over games. At least, not in the playoffs and not yet. Look at what Dirk had to do shooting-wise to be able to win it all. I just don't see that in Giannis.
And I do think there are a lot of guys that fit really well with Luka.
Now, with regards to fa 2021, you're totally right which is why the Giannis pipe dream was silly to chase. Best guess is some sort of trade for a disgruntled player since Mavs do trades as well as anyone.

The four year max, easily. As FA he is going to get several 4y max offers. Thats also a whole different level than the 5 year supermax or if he demands a five year contract from the Jazz.
Guy is elite on so many levels and would also fit like a glove in the Mavs offense. You save KP legs, you have a KP insurance but its also no problem to switch substitutions that for the majority of the game you have either KP or Gobert on the floor.
https://saltcityhoops.com/utahs-uniq...erstar-gobert/
And then of course you dump Powell (at least his final year is just 6m guaranteed money) asap to OKC or somewhere else so you can keep Richardsons 17m cap hold to re-sign him too (probably at least 4/80 after a career year.
Luka/Brunson/Terry
Josh/Burke
DFS/Green
KP/Maxi
Gobert
Thats a nasty team.
2021 FA got pretty thin because i see Kawhi re-signing and i think Oladipo is damaged goods. So the best options/fit is pretty much Gobert and then you are down to a healthy Otto Porter

If we get Gobert, do we trade away our current starting center (Kp)?

Why would we if Gobert is excellent when defending a smaller player on the perimeter after a switch? And then you have your early subs in the 1st and 3rd.
You also have your starting center in B2B games when KP sits out.
KP/Gobert/Maxi as FC rotation would be great. You still have your 16min a game with KP at center. And for the other 16min KP plays the 4 like he did before Powells injury...

I said this in the other thread, but I'd trade 5 KP's for Giannis. Better yet, make it 10. If KP is the reason it's not working, then you trade KP yesterday. As for Giannis not being able to take over games and being the greatest role player ever... I mean... all the more reason he needs to play with someone like Luka. All the more reason he'd be the perfect #2 option, with Luka running the offense. That seems like an argument for Luka and Giannis being perfect together, not against.

I mean, he's one of the greatest playmakers the game has ever seen. No hyperbole. ANYONE would fit really well next to Luka- except a Harden or Westbrook or someone who needs the ball all the time.

I definitely think if we're ever going to get another all-nba caliber player, it will come via trade an not free agency. I just have no idea who. Beal seems to be on everyone's radar, but Washington seems dead set on him as their franchise player. So I guess we just have to wait for someone to get disgruntled. Because I really am not interested in Gobert.

Wow, Sixers starting Seth Curry at pg next to Danny Green. We should all feel blessed with our guard situation.
Edit: Forgot about Simmons, but still, kinda interesting.

If I were Morey, I would do the Harden-Simmons trade. As much of a pain in the ass as he is and even with all of his baggage, I just don't think Simmons and Embiid will ever work together.

Well the idea that Curry and Green will make up for their lack of shooting is kinda sad. Can't imagine they wouldn't seriously consider Simmons for Harden.

There's no way they're not at least thinking about it. I think what's going on is just a lot of posturing. Houston wants not just Simmons, but also several draft picks and other promising young players. I think Philly is thinking, "F that. You can have Simmons and that's basically it." Of course there needs to be salary filler to make the trade work, butt other than that, if I'm Philly I'm giving up nothing else of value. Morey is probably thinking that time is on their side and they have all the leverage, because nobody is going to put together a better offer because none of the suitors for Harden have a player close to Simmons' caliber they're willing to part with. And Houston has made a big deal about how they're willing to get "uncomfortable" and how they're not in a rush to trade Harden, so why not wait a while and see if you actually can make it work with Simmons and Embiid. Harden will probably still be available at the trade deadline.

Harden still refuses to talk to the media.
Still had not been fined or disciplined by Rockets or league
The league is a joke

Also apparently Rockets were all in on Harden and let him make personnel moves.
Dantoni rightfully thought Westbrook was a bad fit, but they pulled the trigger because Harden threatened to leave if they didn’t. Now Rockets have lost out on assets from the Westbrook fiasco and Harden still wants out.
Where is Willy Wonka and his Oompa Loompas when you need him for this spoiled brat

One of the biggest problems is his mom represents him when you absolutely need a professional agent if your name isn't Dirk.
Agents also get deals done. You want to be traded? You need someone who can orchestrate something similar to the Lakers/NO deal.

Harden breaks media silence.
James Harden on what he was doing in Atlanta in Vegas during training camp:
"I was just training."
For what?
"The start of the NBA season."
Why in Atlanta and Vegas instead of Houston?
"My personal trainers."

I don't think they harbor any delusions about being good this year. They're clearly playing the long game, trying to build through the draft. It's honestly the smartest thing they've done in decades. In previous years, they would've been the ones giving Hayward 30 mil a year and trading for Westbrook.

What is their long game though? They've been playing that "game" since Allan Houston and Latrell Sprewell...

Those kinds of moves are exactly what the new front office is not doing. We'll see how long it lasts, because Dolan will probably get impatient and demand some big splashy move at some point.

Build through the draft? Seems like they've been clearing cap for a hail mary super team strategy.
