man i need a cigarette...it's only 3:30 in the afternoon. the kings aren't so bad at home; the topper to this wonderful day would be drawing even with the lakers in the loss column.

In the pantheon of great Dirk regular season games. Up there with, off the top of my head:
- his three-point barrage against the Sonics,
- his 29 point fourth quarter against the Jazz in 2009,
- his trading threes with Deron game against the Jazz,
- his dominating game after retuning from injury against the Suns in 2008,
- his overtime showdown with T-Mac/the Rockets
- his various game winners over Milwaukee, Philly, Charlotte, Orlando, Boston, etc.

Anyone who suggested we trade Dirk this season is frankly a giant moron.
Dirk is the Dallas Mavericks.

It's so amazing to have another game in the Pantheon of great Dirk games. What an honor.

Can please someone give me in detail the beautifulness of Dirk?
I have to follow game cast on ESPN.com and can't watch. I started cleaning the room when they pulled 97-95 and figured hopefully ill come back and something miraculous has happened.

Yep, glad to see he's still got it. I had some worries earlier in the year that maybe we were finally seeing a slip from the big German. But these past few weeks, he's been looking as good as ever. Today is definitely one of his classics.

What's frustrating about this being in the collection of Dirk classics I'll rewatch 20 years from now is knowing that this was the guard play with which we surrounded him. If we didn't have 2011, that would probably eat at my stomach for the rest of my life.

Carlisle just said he was more impressed with OJs game today more than Dirk's.
Carrey has lost his mind.

Dirk played pretty much the whole 4th quarter today. That needs to keep happening. It keeps him in rhythm.

Speaking of, he should have gotten a lot more than 23 minutes. I don't get why Carlisle insists on fiddling around with rotations like plugging like Marion at PF and Dirk at center so he could get guys like Jae Crowder in the game when he's got a guy like Wright who the Bulls showed no ability to handle. That's just Carlisle getting too cute.
Wright's rebounding has definitely seen an upswing though from where he was the first couple of months this season. That being said, I think the first couple of months were probably a bit of an aberration that was going to get ironed out with a bit larger of a sample. At least it looked that way compared to his career numbers. And sure enough, he's right about near his career numbers again.

It shows he's way more concerned with intangibles like toughness than how guys actually play basketball. His on-court performance was awful, and if his injury was such a factor that THAT perfromance was impressive, then he shouldn't have been out there.

I'm still trying to decide if I'm going to appreciate this game more or less when I look back on his performance and see that hobo beard.
One of life's great questions, really.

Or the genius of Carlisle knows he needs to get Mayo some confidence for the playoff push instead of throwing out typical one liners about how Dirk played.

You guys are something else. Never a missed chance to throw shots at the only coach that could bring together a team in Dallas mavs history to a championship.

If he has to pump up Mayo for the playoffs then he aint the player the Mavs are looking for.
No player should ever have to get the coach to get him ready for yhe playoffs.

Historically: decent on the offensive glass and subpar on the defensive glass.
This year: decent on the offensive glass and subpar on the defensive glass.
It's just not a strength of his game. Better to let that one go and focus on what he does do well (including his improved midrange game this year).

Eyes swelled up with tears hearing that call.
"The mavs are the team that won't die. And the man that is performing CPR is Dirk."

Wright is a guy that improves your basketball team by being on it. We need as many of those guys as we can get.

K.C Johnson @KCJHoop 1h
Hinrich on Nowitzki: "He's made a career out of doing that." #Bulls
Royce Young @EyeOnBasketball 1 hour ago
VIDEO: Dirk Nowitzki is back to doing Dirk things, buries the Bulls with a game-winning 3.

Oh, I'm 100% on board with re-signing him to be the first big off the bench this summer. Just don't see the point of anyone fooling themselves into thinking that keeping him in the fold would somehow erase Dallas' need for a stronger physical presence at center.
