My weekend trip to Vegas and my new purse!
I got back last night from a quick weekend trip to Vegas courtesy of my in-laws. They paid for air, hotel, some food, and gave my husband and I each $200 to gamble with (a true blessing because we are VERY broke right now!). Lots of stories to tell, but I'm tired so keeping it short for now. Saturday morning after laying in bed all night coughing and watching Scott, my husband, toss and turn every time I coughed, I decided to give him some peace and quiet. So at 5:30 (after ZERO minutes of sleep) I went down to the casino. I fed $40 into the Wheel of Fortune slot machine and quickly turned $40 into $80. Since I had doubled that money I walked away. Then I headed over to the blackjack table and started with $50. In less than 10 minutes I counted my chips and was up to $175! Once again, I smartly walked away, so that I couldn't lose it all. Good morning. I finally slept several hours Saturday afternoon and was ready to do it all again that night. Scott and I sat down at a blackjack table (the same one that I had won at earlier - the only non-smoking table in the whole casino - loved it!). Scott bought in at $100 and I bought in at $50. Things weren't going so well, so we said we'll bet $5 one more time and if we lose, we'll walk away. 20 minutes later I look down at our stacks of chips and we had over $600 there. Not too shabby! Turning $150 into $600 = A.W.E.S.O.M.E! So, I have my in-laws to thank for a purse I have been drooling over for a year. When I was waiting for my flight Friday at DFW, I wandered around and shopped. They had a Brighton kiosk, and sure enough, there was my $260 purse! Our flight landed at 5:05 Sunday evening, and by 5:30 I had my dream purse in my hands!!! Here's a pic:
I'm sure many of you think spending that much on a purse is ridiculous, especially one that has cats on it, but I LOVE it so much! I can't stop smiling when I look at it. Even if I don't get a single thing I actually like this Christmas, I will still be happy because I have my adorable purse. Good time!

Sounds like a trip well deserved. Congrats and enjoy your purse. It is always nice to reach goals etc especially when you are having a rough road of it.

In a bit of an embarassing moment, raef realizes that she just purchased the same purse that chummy carries.

lol. if chummy indeed carries that purse, then I must compliment him for his fashion sense.
And chum, it was my sixth trip to Vegas (I think), and it took me this long to realize you have to have discipline if you want to come out ahead. Being as broke as I am didn't hurt either. I desperately wanted to come home with at least the $200 my in-laws gave me. Goal reached! (and then some!) Wish my dad could learn that same lesson. He went with us and must have lost at least $1000. That would have made me cry.

It sounds like you had an awesome time, and had money and merchandise to show for it! I can't help but daydream about what I would do with a spare $600. Nice!
