ESPN Ranks their Scheme - Busters
espn lists some "schemebusters" (players that opposing teams must game-plan around), and those overrated as such.....
Unfortunately, the pats rate two players in the cream of the crop (Brady, Moss) while the cowboys have two in the way overrated category (Roy Williams, J-Jones, like you couldn't have guessed those two names)....
pretty good read here --> link

If everybody constantly calls a player like Williams overrated, is he really overrated?

In pass coverage? I'd say yes, but he led the team (league?) in interceptions last season, so he's doing at least part of his job better than most players in the NFL (of course, for every interception, there's 3 blown coverages)... In addition, I absolutely love the way he levels players on the field (of course, for every 3 big hits, there's a horse-collar penalty)...
I don't think he's so much overrated as he is playing the wrong position (and also a bit undisciplined, but blame his coaches in the past & present for that one)...

That's because this list was about players that opposing teams must game-plan around...
How the hell do you plan for a beast like Ware?

It's amazing the level of confidence Cowboy fans have for the side of the ball that hasn't been tested this year.

I don't understand how Jones is overrated. Unless it's because he remains the starter. It's not like he is the featured back.

I think Jones is an ideal back-up... come in and pound the ball a few times...So, maybe analysts see him starting and as a result it sparks the discussion of "over-rated" player.

I honestly believe the Barbarian should be somewhere on the list.

When I first read that, I thought it said 34-1. That would be a neat trick!

True. I would say the Chargers.... but that wouldn't hold much weight.
But I still have doubts about the Defense. Will Henry be ready?

Then I would say I am totally wrong about Dallas...they are a legitimate Super Bowl team... Is that really what you wanted me to answer? I know you to well...

I thought last year before Henry got hurt that we had a pretty solid defense... This will be the ultimate test of the year... If we beat this Patriot team, I would conclude barring no key injuries, Super Bowl bound...There just isn't a team in our conference that is worth a damn...

Big roy is overrated because he still manages to make the probowl every year somehow, especially when TO didn't make it last year.

Big Roy is overrated because their are several quality safeties on several teams out there, and he still gets recognition even though he has made a mistake or two in his career. People either LOVE or HATE the Cowboys and with most national media coming from the NY/DC area ... most hate the Cowboys. Roy is a lightning rod for criticism -- and a dang good player. Dawkins, Taylor, Reed and Wilson are all quality S as well in the league - which probably don't get as much notice.

The problem with this whole "The Cowboys/Patriots haven't played anyone" argument is that there really doesn't seem to be many teams in the NFL that would fulfill that requirement. The league seems very tiered this year.

Exactly!
It seems like the only worthy opponents they can take on is each other... The Cowboys, Patriots, and Colts are 5-0... The Steelers & the Packers are 4-1... The rest of the NFL is 3-2 or worse, with the Saints, Rams, and Dolphins being the only winless teams going into week 6...
The Cowboys are as good as it gets right now...

its mostly that he takes awful angles and doesnt rap up. In short he sucks at pretty much all the fundamentals of football. I will say this for roy though, while he gives up a ton of plays, he does make a few too.

even though he shouldn't be, he's looked at as a franchise player...i don't think Jerry would ever allow ANY coach to part with him.

I hate roy williams. I know I've said that before, but he was mentioned again on ESPN first take today.

It just sucks because, he's not the absolute worst coverage safety in the league. But he is definitely hyped up too much, which makes times he does have bad coverage look absolutely horrible.

LOL. Roy will retire a Cowboy. I don't get the bashing of the guy and I never will. The same goes for Julius. Roy's not good in coverage. We know. And i'm looking at other safeties around the league and can anyone name me any safeties that are great in coverage aside from Palumala(?) and Ed Reed? Roy is what he is. He's not the best safety in the league but he's not a liability either. Once our corners come back healthy hopefully some of Roy's weaknesses will dissapear.

the thing is "hes not good in coverage" and "if you throw at him after a play action its a touchdown" arent the same thing.
