Default Richard Jefferson Appreciation Thread

He's gone to play with the Lebrons.

I find this to be a blessing in disguise. He averaged 5.8 points and 2.5 rebounds in 16.8 mpg. That kind of production won't be missed, especially with his subpar free throw shooting at 68.4%. The Mavericks are going younger, and that is the right move for them.

Jefferson was quite unefficient but a solid Defender and not a unselfish.

Will always remember him for this

The only thing that sucks is the outside perspective. Mavs can't hold onto players. No one wants to play in dallas blah blah

Really don't see how that pertains to RJ who is in the "wants to win a ring" stage of his career.

And I think it's the total opposite. Mavs have proven what a class organization they are letting the committed free agents decide if they still want to play here after Jordan reneged.

It doesn't reflect negatively on the Mavs. He's an older player with no rings. People understand ring chasing.

From ESPN http://es.pn/1Lrkw66

Quote:
"He called and talked to me," Cuban told ESPN. "RJ said he had an opportunity with an Eastern Conference team. He said he would honor what he [originally agreed to with the Mavs] but thought the other was a better fit. I told him I was OK with it and understood."
Hence, RJ didn't pull a Deandre. Frankly, it's a win-win for both sides.

Bingo.

Mark Cuban didn't let Jordan's decision screw over all the players who committed to the Mavs based on the idea that he was coming here... If anything, guys around the league are going to respect that.

Good for RJ. It makes no difference to the Mavs. They're barely a .500 team either way. They are trying to find hidden gems. Playing known, average, veterans will only slow down the process.

I hope Cleveland misses a championship again.

This is a good thing. We have limited PT behind our starters and we have a young Anderson that will need all of it that he can get.

Class act on both sides with him and Cuban and I wish nothing but good luck for him. I'm officially over the Lebron hate. He's lost his first year in Cleveland and I'll be somewhat rooting for RJ to get a ring with them ... as long as it's not the Mavs in the Finals.

LeBron James can suck it... I hope he gets to the Finals every year for the rest of his career and still only finishes with 2 rings to his name.

I think this is definitely going to make us younger, since Jefferson is pretty old.

Agreed, more minutes for Anderson.

I wish him the best. He left the right way, talking to the team about it.
I also agree with what others here have said.
1. Not a big setback for the Mavs.
2. Good to get some minutes for Anderson.
3. Screw Cleveland and LeBron.

Veteran that played hard, and while he was unspectacular, he is a smart player who by all accounts is a great mentor for younger guys. Wish he would have stayed (especially at the minimum!) but he probably doesn't tip the scales on the court too much. Good luck in Cleveland to a classy player.

makes sense for the cavs. they needed a physically strong wing play to take a few of lebron's minutes.
