What happened to the lounge?
When did the lounge die? Perhaps I should have taken the Lounge in the celebrity death watch for 2012. There was a time when the lounge was just about as busy as the main forum.... especially when LRB was posting 1600 times a day in here.
So, what happened?

Lost finished.
That was my main reason for visiting The Lounge. Granted, I don't exactly have a massive amount of posts but I bet at least half of them were on that Lost thread. In fact, i bet half of my rep in this forum isn't even basketball related. Sad really...

It died long before 2012.
Those were the days though!

Oh, it's been dormant for quite awhile... Of course, the forum probably isn't as busy as it used to be either. I suppose alot of it kinda died when the forum lost a bit of it's since of community.. several years back when alot of us would get together and do things, there was much more of a sense of community.

The best posters used to have long standing conversations and ongoing jokes here...From just a cursory glace, most of them have abandoned the Lounge...and many of them have abandoned DM altogether.
That is what happened.
It used to be the most "fun" part of DM back when the most "fun" established posters were coming to here to express their excitement.
Its a little sad.

Twitter, man. Twitter. I only have to see the posts of the people I want to see, and it forces everyone to keep it brief. Twit-eo killed the message board star. I still run through here every week or two, but unless there's a really hot topic, I'm just scanning. Difference between being 22 and 32, as well.
Twitter.. I got BBL, KG, Thig, Chumdawg.. among many others. I do miss several of the old school folks who stopped reading & posting here altogether, though, like y'all mentioned.

I was wondering the same......... then I realized I haven't posted diddly-squat myself in like a month anywhere 'round these parts. And I was nowhere near the top of the list of biggest posters in the lounge.
Twitter isn't the reason for me, although I do have it.
